Hello Son,                                                             (Sunday, January 23)

We left the house this morning to drop Justine at church.

She's helping out with the Catechism kindergarten class this year. :D

Dad went to the basement to get the car.

We hopped in at the condo lobby.

The radio was on. A song was playing.

Although the tune was unfamiliar, Mom caught the word :

"Someone to watch over me ..."

Someone to watch over me???

Her heart must have skipped a beat.

The time on the dash board was 9:49am.

First thing in the morning, she received a nice ZAP. :D

Quickly, in case she forgets,

yeah right, as if she would - someone to watch over me ...

... she keyed those words into her mobile, telling herself she would definitely check the song on YouTube later.

We arrived at church and dropped Justine off.

Then, Dad and Mom went to Starbucks, Bangsar while waiting for Jus to finish her class. Mom took out the laptop. Dad went to get coffee.

She google-searched these words :

youtube someone to watch over me lyrics

and pressed ENTER.

Three song videos appeared.

Mom clicked on the first one - by Allison Iraheta.

You remember Allison Iraheta, right? We had followed American Idol that season, with 2 camps at home - Adam Lambert and Chris Allen.

Paused to look at the page ...

Everything was as normal as checking YouTube videos could be ...

And then ... before she knew it ...

Gosh ...

She couldn't believe her eyes.

Sitting there solidly on the sofa at Starbucks, she stared at the laptop screen unblinkingly.

No, not good for the eyes, she knows ...

Wow ...

How do You do it?

Honestly Daniel, how do You do it???

Mom had clicked on the Allison Iraheta video. While listening to the song on the headphone, she started to check out the thumb nail videos on the right side of the screen.

At first, she found herself just scanning through.

Then, the ZAP happened ...

and it made her re-read each title again ...

this time slowly ...

one by one ...

from top to bottom ...

finger pointing at each one ...

Video 2 : Someone to watch over me (Allison Iraheta)

Say whattt???

Did You see that???

Your song???

The second song You sang to Mom the night before You left us? That song? Why, Justine and Your friends had dedicated this song to You on your First Anniversary on Friday, January 21.

See Call 126 : Confetti Rice

How awesome was it for Mom to find FALL FOR YOU

among sixteen SOMEONE TO WATCH OVER ME videos???

Imagine reading ...

Someone to watch over me

Someone to watch over me

Someone to watch over me

again and again ...

and suddenly, out of the blues, quite unexpectedly -

you see ...

Oh My ...

That was unbelievable!

The Zap. The Bond. The Message.

The O--M--G!!!

What are the chances of a FALL FOR YOU video

appearing among 16 SOMEONE TO WATCH OVER ME ???

Slim, very slim chance ...

Heck, no chance ...

Mom got it, Son. Mom got your message ... :D

Someone to watch over me ... Fall For You ...

Err ... har-low ...

That's YOU ...

That's YOU telling Mom You're watching over us ... :D

That was awesome ...  :D

Totally ...

Mom looked at the other 3 videos ...

Video 11 : Scars

(Scars??? Like what - telling You how lucky your surgical scars cannot be seen because they are covered by your hair ...)

Next ...

Video 15 : Alone

(Don't even think of getting your mother started on this topic ...)

Last video ...

Video 16 : The best 17 year old eva

(Strictly speaking, You would be 17 years old on earth, this year ...)

Oh Woah ... Talk about connection ...

How connected is this???

No words, Son.

None ...

Just a big happy grin ... :D:D:D

"When You're listening to this song Son, just know that we are missing your handsome face."

We left Starbucks to pick up Justine.

Still overwhelmed by the ZAP, Mom was relating the inciDAN (again and again) to Dad. Dad had a big smile on his face.

We were in the car. Mom turned on the radio:

Two Less Lonely People In The World

The time was 11:29am ...

Getting a signal here ...

Hmmm ...

Pause some more.

Wait a minute ...

Zzzzzza -- PPP!!!

Flashback ...

We were in the car, Dad was driving, Mom was in front, both Justine and You were sitting behind, and this song had come on.

Mom had said, "Air Supply..."

Justine and You were like, "What's that???"

Mom replied, "The song - it's by Air Supply."

You two paused to listen for two seconds, then both of You wrinkled your nose in distaste, looked at each other and made a face like there was a stench nearby ... and then - the synchronized urgent mock act -

CHaNGe THe CHaNNeL, MaRM!!! :D

Mom remembers that clearly. It's heart-warming just thinking about it. You remember, don't You? :D

Anyway, after that song, the next one that came on was:

I'M ALIVE (Celine Dion)

The time was 11:33am.

Mom listened to it and thought ...

Hmmm, he IS alive ... and so kickin' in Heaven. :D

Good songs today huh.

We reached church.

While waiting for Justine to finish her class, Dad and Mom stayed in the car. You must have whispered to Dad not to turn off the car engine because the next song that came on right after was:

The time was 11:36am.

That song was for your mother. She knows it. She could feel it. She claims it. She had told You once before that any parent would love to have this song dedicated to them. You had asked Mom at the time why she was teaching her 6 year old kids at school such a difficult song during their concert 2 years ago.

You remember, Mom knows ...

Yes, your mother knows You remember ... She had to make an effort to hold back tears that threatened to fall ... She was at the church compound - someone might just walk by ...

Mom couldn't wait to tell Justine the inciDANS that happened this morning, including the two Celine Dion songs.

Justine said : "I'M ALIVE and BECAUSE YOU LOVED ME came on, one after another?"

Mom replied, Yeah ...

Justine commented that it was unusual for 2 of the same artist's songs to come on, "back to back" ... her own words ...

Mom thought so too ...

Unusual ...

You must have whispered to the DJ :

"Put on another Celine Dion's song.

Because You Love Me.

My mother likes that song."

Did You see the big smile on your mother's face? :D

Totally felt your presence today, Daniel ...

Thank You Jesus, for the connection. :D

The bond between Mother and Son is forever. <3

Truly ... forever.

Hello Son,                                                          (Your First Anniversary) (Friday January 21)

This is the notice that we placed in THE STAR papers

on your 1st Anniversary on Friday, January 21, 2010.

Click on the title to Facebook page and scroll down to

Video on left side entitled : This one's for You, Dans.

(Video is originally uploaded on your Facebook. These video clips were taken
by Aunty Carol on her mobile. Although unclear, they are precious to your family.)

The day before, Thursday January 20

we went to your garden, with your friends, then back to the condo.

Several inciDANS happened :-

1. Call 124 : Caterpillar Message

2. Call 125 : Runaway Sausage

3. Call 126 : Confetti Rice

Mom felt your presence throughout the day. :D

This evening, Friday ...

Mom was cutting out your notice from the newspaper. Justine was at her laptop, watching American Idol at the same time. Dad was in the kitchen.

We were waiting for Aunty Bee to arrive.

She was coming over for dinner.

Past 8pm, Aunty Bee called from the guard-house.

Mom told Dad that she would go down to the lobby to get Aunty Bee. She had walked out of the gate, and was hooking the lock back, when she suddenly heard the song in the background :

"Somewhere -- Over the rainbow ... "

Mom called out to Justine,

"Is that Somewhere Over The Rainbow?"

Jus yelled back, "Yeah!"

Woah ...

One of the American Idol contestants was singing the song right at that moment.

Zzzzzzza -- PPPP!!!

Oh My ...

Your timing once again, Son, is immaculate. :D

Mom was so meant to hear that.

Somewhere Over The Rainbow is the address she had put on your notice in the newspaper ... the notice that she was cutting out just a few minutes ago.

Honestly, what are the chances of your mother hearing the words she had chosen for the notice, on the television? Besides, had she left the house just a few seconds earlier, she would have missed that.

For certain.

You made sure your mother heard the song before she left the house, didn't You? That is so your style ...  Mom knows.

The precise timing. :D

Mom had a big smile as she went down the lift to get Aunty Bee. :D

Fast Forward ...

We had a really yummy dinner.

Dad had prepared Hainanese Chicken Rice complete with the chilly sauce and garlic-ginger side condiment. :D

We spent some time catching up until about 10:30pm.

Before Mom tells You what happened next, and believe You me, it was something rather incredible, so You'd better sit down and listen, she needs to remind You of :

Call 43 : ANGEL SIGN

where, she had written below the picture of the guardian angel watching over two little children, the following paragraph:

"Did You tell God that your mother needs to feel some kind of connection, otherwise she might not realise that her Son is nearer to her than she's aware of? With your mother, You can't be subtle, because she just won't get it. You will have to give it to her as it is. :D Better yet, leave a white Angel's feather on her desk some day..."

Mom wrote that entry on November 1, 2010.

So anyway ...

Mom cleared the dishes. After that, she prepared a Call-entry for You. Shortly after, she got up from the computer table to go to the kitchen.  She wanted to boil the left-over soup from dinner, to keep it good for the next day.

Something amazing ...

was about to happen before the close of your First Anniversary today, on Friday, January 21 ...

before the stroke of midnight ...

O -- M -- G ...

It was unbelievable ...

Mom was at the kitchen sink, facing the window.

As always, the right panel of the window is closed, whilst the left panel was opened halfway at 45 degrees. You will remember that the kitchen area can sometimes be windy, and if both panels were opened, it would be difficult to cook as the flame would be dancing about.

Your mother reached out to the left panel, with the intention of closing it. Suddenly, a tiny lil something flew right in and stuck itself on the top side of the faucet - the side facing the window.

Huh, what was that?

From where Mom was standing, she could not see what it was.

Instinctively, she turned the faucet to her side and looked ...

She found herself holding her breath.

O -- M -- G ...

Mom couldn't believe her eyes ...

Are You kidding her???

Like -

Did You see what she saw???

A -- tiny -- white -- feather???

Zzzzzaa -- PPP!!!

A --

Oh My ...

Oh Wow ...

Oh Gee ...

Oh Lord ...

You must have grinned yourself silly when You saw your mother's OMG expression. :D She must have looked like a cartoon.

Carefully, Mom picked up the tiny white feather and cello-taped it on to her notebook. It was about 2 cm in length. Checking the clock on the wall to jot down the time of the inciDAN, she saw that it was a few minutes before midnight.

Oh My ...

What a PERFECT close to your First Anniversary, Son ... :D

You really made your mother's day, Daniel ...

That was super amazing!

Thank You for the white feather, Son ...

What a wonderful, out of the world, coinciDANS ...

Honestly ... say what You like, but Mom knows ...

It was nobody, nobody BUT CHIU ... <3

(See Call 109 : NOBODY NOBODY)

Here's the eviDANS ... :D

Hello Son,                                    (continue from Call 125) (Thursday, January 20)

We had a nice late lunch under the tree.

About 3pm, everyone went up to the condo.

The kids showered and chilled out before the TV ...

Mom left Justine and the friends at the condo, while she went to Grandma's place for a while. There's much omg-discussion going on about Aunty Diana's wedding on January 29 and 30.

Your mother came back to the house at about 6:30 pm.

You know, the whole time, she had the sausage inciDAN in her head. She knew she would be writing that in the blog. She couldn't help but wonder if You were gonna zap anyone else ... your close buddy Oliver, in particular, who was instrumental in planning for the gathering of your friends at the garden this morning, along with Ken and some others your mother may not be aware of.

First Anniversary on January 21.

Nothing seemed to have happened so far since the sausage inciDAN with Nik this morning ...

Nothing unusual. No zap.

The next day (Friday) was a school day.

It was already late in the evening.

The kids would surely need to go home soon. Justine had called for pizzas to be delivered to our place. Dad would send the kids back home after dinner.

While waiting for the pizza to arrive, Mom warmed up the leftover rice and curry chicken from lunch time.

The pizza guy came past 7pm.

We laid the pizzas on the table.

Mom brought out the rice and chicken.

Then she went into the kitchen.

The next thing she knew ...

There was a sudden burst of loud laughter and giggles from everyone outside.

Oliver hurried into the kitchen.

He asked Mom for a kitchen cloth, rather urgently.

Then, as calmly as he could, he kinda muttered that he had spilled something.

Oh, don't worry about that, Mom had assured immediately ...

Your mother's mind had picked up some sort of signal, and was instantly working at full speed.

That familiar speed ...

You know ... faster than a speeding bullet.

Yeah, that speed. :D

Mom ran the kitchen towel under the faucet, squeezed out the water before handing it to him.

He went out.

Mom followed behind, and took a peek outside.

The girls couldn't stop laughing ...

Hehehehehehehe ...

Hahahahahahaha ...

Harharharharhar ...

On and on and on ...

Then, Mom saw rice scattered all over the floor.

My oh my ... what happened here. It looked as if somebody had flung a plate full of rice high up in the air and allowed it to fall like confetti. There was rice all over the place!

Zzzzaa--PPP!!! :D

Mom went in to get another kitchen towel. Oliver was on his knees, trying to sweep and clean up the mess. The girls couldn't stop giggling.

"What happened?" Mom asked.

Justine, in between tears of laughter, said that Oliver was holding a plate of rice, accidentally touched a hot pot ... flinched like he had an electric-shock, and the next second, his rice went flying UP in the air.

Hehehehehehehehe ...

Your mother soon found herself laughing too ...
No, not at your friend ...

That was You, zapping your friend ...

Yes, You, Mom knows. :D

"Daniel is saying HI to You," Mom told him with a smile.

(See Call 95 : ICE CREAM)

In the midst of continued laughter and recount of the inciDAN, we had our dinner. Mom told your friends that Dad will drop them off at 7:30pm, after dinner. One of the girls said,

"We're gonna record a video for Daniel after dinner..."

Aww ... heard that?

How cute is that? :D

Your mother was wondering what video to upload on your Facebook on Friday the next day ... Your 1st Anniversary.

Wonder no more ...

The five wanted to sing, FALL FOR YOU.

They did a really great job!

Only one practice. Don't play.

You must have heard them, huh ...

Here are some photos taken in the condo :

Oliver with your Pikachu ...

Melissa with your Pokemon Annual 2003 ...

Briana with your Pluto slippers ...

Smile, Kids ... :D

Getting ready for recording ...

This one's for You, Daniel! <3

One of the two songs that You sang to your mother
the night before You left.

Saturday, January 22, 2011

Hello Son,                                    (continue from Call 124) (Thursday, January 20)

After the flowers were planted, and the candles lit, the garden site cleared, we sat in a circle and said our Rosary.

In the middle of the fourth decade of the rosary, we heard a faint sound of a helicopter flying above. At a far, far, far distance. Mom tried to take a photo. The helicopter was far away and it was so small, she couldn't get the focus.

Aunty Hayley nudged her.

Mom turned.

Aunty Hayley pointed to the sky - RIGHT ABOVE US.

Mom tilted her head back ...

... and saw in awe, a white, long never-ending trail that was stretched right across the sky.

Right -- above -- us.

We had to literally look straight up, from where we were sitting to look at the trail.

And admire it.

And get nicely zapped by it. :D

A smile appeared on your mother's face.

The timing is always so immaculate.

This has happened more than a few times. During our prayers at previous times at your garden, something would happen that would make us look up into the sky. Just so we could feel your presence.

Also, not forgetting SKY SHOW  (Call 86) ...

You must have been watching us on a soft cotton cloud that morning. Probably waving too huh. Is that why the clouds today look kinda scattered and dispersed? :D Was Mother Mary with You? She heard us say the Rosary, You think? Did Jesus like the song we sang?

For Those Tears I Died ...

Yes, of course - OF COURSE - the trail is left by an airplane (note the impatience).
It's obvious ...

However, now that You're an angel, the rules have changed. We're so not gonna state the obvious. Can't blame your mother, can You? It wasn't obvious to her that You would pack up and leave before she did. So, the white trail in the sky - that appeared during our prayers, not before or after but during, and not somewhere over that side, or the other side, but right above us - well at best, a coinciDANS. :D Yup, a coinciDANS. Okay fine. Nothing to get overly excited about. Just a lil something to zap us and to remind us that You are near. :D There must be a reason why your aunties call You, DANS, since You were a lil boy ... not Dan or Danny ... but DANS. Now we know why ...

Your friends arrived about 10am.

Justine said one of them had called and coyly said that they were lost among the graves ...

Anyway, here's a video for You.

We were singing the first song :

If You check it, you will notice that somewhere in the beginning, around the time .40, there is a broom-broom sound of a motorcycle.

Isn't it meant to be that Mom was standing in a position where she was able to see the motorbike passing through, that carried 2 Indian workers, possibly the caretakers, who were wearing ...

believe it or not - bright orange tee shirts.

Wink Wink ...

The funny thing is, most of us know that your color is orange ... orange is YOU ... yet for some reason, none of us were in orange that morning. Not a single person was in orange.

Then, all of a sudden, your mother was alerted by the broom-broom sound of the motorbike, and the next thing she knew, the bright orange tees just zapped her!

Instantly, Mom just knew You were with us. :D

It can't be explain ... but when it happens, You just know.

You'd think that was all ...

Nahhh ...

Towards later part of the video, You will see a quick shot of the sky (the second one - there were 2 sky shots in the video). Mom had signaled to Justine to point the video skywards (:D) because your mother had spotted a new white trail that had cut across the sky towards the ending part of the song.

Oh my gosh ...

The white trail had appeared during our singing session too.

Note, once again, the eviDANS appears, not before or after - but during a moment that was centered on You. Had it been before or after, there would have been no ZAP!

But ... it had been ...

DURING, Son ... due-ringgg ...

Another coinciDANS, huh. :D

Your mother had a big, wide smile on her face. :D

You must have seen that.

We left the garden at 10:30am.

Dad had made hotdogs for your friends.

So the plan was to have everyone chill out by the pool at our condo and enjoy one of your favourite food while You were here on earth...

Hot dogs.

It would have been about 11:30am when we had the picnic by the BBQ area at the pool side. Everyone was happily making their own hotdogs, squirting ketchup and mustard over a yummy cheesy- sausage braised in onion sauce and sandwiched in a roll.

Everything was as normal as could be.

Not for long ...

At one point, one of your friends, Nikeles dropped his sausage.

Ah ... an inciDAN was about to begin ...

Mom did not see it happen but there was a small commotion as some of the guys were yelling for him to quickly pick it up. Mom poured a cup of drink to help him rinse the sausage, thinking it had dropped on to his shorts ... but it turned out that it was already kinda smeared with sand.

So, Grandma asked him to give it to Kish.

Kish was delighted. :D

Little accidents, like watching in horror, as the sausage You are about to bite on, roll off your plate, do happen.

Nothing unusual, You'd think.

Wait ... wait for it ...

Nik picked up a second sausage.

Would You believe it - but that sausage also rolled off his plate and dropped on to the ground?

Within less than 3 minutes, TWO sausages had rolled off his plate ...

Mom felt your presence immediately.

To appreciate her instincts, read Call 95 : ICE CREAM ...

By the way, this is the boy who had passed your mother a photo of the both of You after You followed Jesus home. Nik had given Mom this photo below a week or so after You left.

Daniel and Nik receiving their First Holy Communion at 7 years old. How cute the both of You look. :D

Mom thinks so. :D

She said to Nik that You were probably saying HI to him. :D

Honestly, had he drop the sausage once

nobody would think twice about it.

Uh, by "nobody" ... your mother means Mom.

However, the - second - sausage - also - rolled - off - his - plate,

moments later.

Have You anything to say, Son? :D

Anything -- at -- all?

Like maybe - Guilty as charged ... :D

Anyway ...

Words are not necessary. Mom knows.

Besides, being Zzzzzza-PPPed is enough. :D

Your friends went swimming after the hotdogs. :D

Kish is having a great treat!

Our picnic stuff.

Squirt the ketchup all the way ... :D

Faith means walking on water ... :D

 Remember the beach balls?

Fun time ... :D

Zzzzzzz ...

 For your entertainment ... :D

You must have pointed back from your cotton cloud ...

Like this ... but pointing downwards ... :D

Curry chicken with pilau rice for lunch @ 2pm ...

(continue on Call 126)
