Call 305 : TWO GIRLS

Hello Son,

It's 10:12 pm on New Year's Eve.

Aunty Jessie left at noon for the airport. Her flight to LAX is at 3 pm. She has been here for 10 days, would You believe it. Anyway, to cut a short story shorter, at one point in the conversation, we said that :

"Daniel knows what's going on ..."

Yes, Daniel knows what's going on ...

You know everything now ...

You can see everything so much clearer from where You are ...

You definitely can see the bigger picture ... better than any of us.

Every day, he gives me a lil sign, Mom said.

We were discussing several business options.

Again.

Yeah, all very boring talk. Sometimes, when there are too many routes to take, you get all confused. You just have to stop and remain where you are, until you see some kind of ...

SIGN. :D

Right? Then, You'd know which route to take.

The day before, on Friday morning, Dad and Mom were walking to the car. We were going to school.

Mom had expressed in exasperation to Dad,

"Honestly, I don't know what to do ..."

and then aloud, "Tell Mom what to do, Daniellll ..."

We got into the car.

Would You believe it but shortly after Dad started the car, the song COUNT ON ME came on the radio.

OMG ...

CoinciDANs?

Of course.

Mom exclaimed, "You heard that? Count on me. I - just - asked - him what to do ... and hellooo ... Count on me ???"

We arrived in school some two minutes later. As Dad turned into a parking bay, the song nicely came to an end. How not to take notice? It was too perfect.

You can count on me

Like one, two, three

I'll be there ...

You bet your mother's counting on You, Son ... :D

What have You got up your sleeves?

Anyway, that afternoon, something really weird happened.

At about 3 pm or so, the intercom buzzed. The security camera showed two Indian girls

One of them said, "Coming for interview."

Interview?

Mom frowned.

She had put an ad in the papers, yes, but that was like a month ago ...

Anyway, they came up. Only one was keen to apply for a job. Mom gave her a form to fill up her particulars. At the end of the very brief interview, your mother said apologetically that she was looking for a teacher who could speak Mandarin. The girl and her companion left.

Half an hour later, the intercom buzzed again.

Mom peered at the security camera. At first glance, she saw two Indian girls.

Huh?

Did the two girls come back? Did they forget something?

The voice came through, "I'm looking for a job ..."

Different girls?

Another interview?

Strange.

Frowning, Mom let them in. She couldn't help but mutter under her breath, "What's going on ?"

Once again, only one of them was interested in applying for a job. The other girl merely accompanied her there. Mom handed the form for the first girl to fill up. After the interview, your mother told her that we were looking for a teacher who could teach Mandarin.

The two girls left.

About an hour later, the intercom buzzed again.

OMG, your mother couldn't believe her eyes when she saw yet another two Indian girls at the security camera.

Oh My Gosh ...

Deeper frown ...

What - is - going - on ???

One of the girls spoke through the intercom,

"Coming for interview."

H-huh ??? Again ???

This time, Mom replied through the phone-speaker,

"I'm sorry we only have vacancy for a Mandarin teacher."

The girl replied quickly, "I called just now. You said I can come for interview ..."

Pause ...

Oh ...

Yeah, your mother did mention that, but she didn't mean it.

Grudgingly, Mom let the two girls in.

Again, she handed out the application form.

After the girl filled it up, Mom told her that she would give her a call should there be a vacancy in future. For now, she explained, she was short of Mandarin - speaking staff.

Both girls left.

Mom sat down at her desk and pondered.

Really, what -- was -- that ???

That was really weird.

Like really.

Are You trying to tell your mother something? What are the chances of three pairs of Indian girls coming in one after another, one asking for a job, and the other the companion?

Is there something You wanna say, Son ... because You have your mother's full attention now.

What is it?

Call 303 : HAPPY BIRTHDAY

Hello Son,

It's your birthday today.

Mom knows You're near. You're probably right beside her as she is writing now.

Last night (Friday) at 9:50 pm, your mother posted a video of Baby Megan on your Facebook page. Aunty Diana only brought Megan to school for one day, and see how inspired is Megan to start reading.

Grin.

Anyway, after posting the video on your Facebook page, Mom was gonna wait till midnight to drop You a note on your birthday.

Yes, on Christmas Eve ...

However, while waiting, she fell asleep.

She was awaken by the sound of her handphone ringing.

Groggily, she stumbled out of bed.

Dad was also awaken, and was like, "Who's that? Who's that?"

It was about 12:30 am. Our neighbour was calling.

Mom answered the call but the line went dead.

Your mother called right back.

Aunty V, the neighbour, said,

"The padlock on your gate is open ..."

Oh ... Really?

Mom thanked Aunty V for alerting her. Then, she quickly told Dad. Dad went out to check and said, yes he must have forgotten to latch it back when the girl from the cafe delivered dinner earlier.

Justine also came out of her room, "Why, what happened?"

So anyway, we all went back to bed.

Your mother however, could not go back to sleep ...

It was kinda strange what just happened.

She came out.

Sat herself on the computer table.

Turned on the computer and went to your Hello Son Blog. She had saved a video link on one of the drafts. She put on the headphones and played the video.

Then, she logged onto Facebook.

Your site.

Mom saw at the top of your page, Phelan's note.

Yes, the boy who started the Facebook group page of yours the day You left. He remembered your birthday. Then, she happened to scroll down and saw the several birthday postings from your friends.

Of course at the time, she was listening to Somewhere Over the Rainbow (Rhema's version) and before long, the tears started. Your friends still remember your birthday?

Sniff sniff ...

Mom typed down on her entry :

SAT DEC 24 @

She looked at the time.

It was 1:23 am. She waited till it turned 1:24 pm before typing down the time as 1:24. It was after all your birthday, Dec 24 ... so, why not just wait one minute ...

It soon turned 1:24 pm.

Mom typed the time down.

Followed by the lyrics of the song.

You know this is all very strange, because Mom found this video much earlier, and had wanted to upload it on your 21st (Wed 21st). However, there was one line in the song that she was not able to get then. She had asked Justine too, even Dad, to listen to that line, and neither one of them could catch those few words.

It was the lyrics right after :

GOD PROMISED ME ...

Bla bla bla

Mom had replayed that line more than 20 times. Still,  she could not catch the words then. With the speakers, with the headphones, with the volume out loud. She - just - could - not - get - that - line.

Nor could Justine. Nor Dad.

However, tonight ... tonight, as she played the video once again, and typing it out onto her entry, she suddenly realised she had typed out THAT line. The line was CLEAR.

IF I BELIEVE IN CHRIST

Why didn't she get it the last time? Why couldn't she hear it before? Not even Dad or your sister could hear that line clearly before. Tonight, THAT line is crystal clear. Isn't that strange?

She continued typing.

You must have whispered into your mother's ears. :D

How else would You explain it?

Just as she was in the middle of typing out the song, would You believe it, but the computer hung.

After clicking the mouse several times, and got no response whatsoever, she restarted the monitor. :S

When she got onto your page again, she noticed a new entry.

ST ... "4 minutes ago."

Pause ...

4 - minutes ago...

Four ???

Like, one two three four - FOUR ???

Her angel sign???

Something (or someone) (Oh, stop beating round the bush) ...

YOU must have whispered to your mother because she suddenly found herself counting the number of entries that were posted after her video entry of Baby Megan at 9:50 pm.

One two three ...

Count count count ...

Oh  ---  My  ---  God ...

She counted again.

And again.

And one more time, just in case.

There were 23 entries after her video entry, which makes her entry now number 24.

You wanted 24, Ma? :D

OH MY GOSH ...

Mom instinctively picked up her cell to check the time of Aunt V's call just now. It was 12:39 am.

Her hand flew to her mouth.

Gasp.

Decode : 4

You woke Mom up. She knows for sure now.

Earlier this (Friday) evening, after school, we went to the food court to have a quick dinner and buy back for Justine.

At the food court, Dad said, "Turn LEFT, there's a car coming out."

Your mother turned RIGHT.

Dad was like, "Left. I said turn left."

Too late.

She was on the right side of the food court area.

No need to mention there were no parking.

So, Mom said, "You tapau la. We eat at home. I want kuey teow soup."

Mom turned off the engine and headlights.

And sat there in the darkness.

Not long after, she found herself turning to her left and as she did so, she immediately spotted a car with the number plate :

DAD XXXX

Her head quickly registered the number plate.

3927

OMG ... 21.

That's YOU.

You're zapping Dad, aren't You? On December 18th, we were at your garden. Mom hasn't got the time to write that entry yet. Anyway, when we left, Dad had started the car, and the immediate song that was on was DELILAH.

Dad had said, "He taught me this song (guitar)."

Then, on December 22nd, 4 days later if You notice, Justine, Mom and Dad went to dinner. After dinner, we went back to the car. Dad started the car.

Once again, DELILAH was playing on the radio.

Dad said, "This song again ..."

Mom said, "Hey, isn't this the second time that you're starting the car, and DELILAH is on?"

Dad said, "Yes."

Two times Delilah came on the radio in the same manner? The song You taught Dad to play on the guitar.

Mom's thoughts were interrupted when Dad came back to the car with the food.

(By the way, Dad only bought for Justine. Mom mentioned above that we ordered dinner from the cafe.)

Mom said, "Look at that car. Son's saying HI DAD. HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAD."

Dad grimaced.

Nodded.

No words.

Pause.

Dad was kinda down yesterday (Friday), Son. It's difficult for your father, Daniel, that You are not here to celebrate your birthday with him as You have been for 15 years, since the day You were born. You are certainly with us, Daniel. All the above are just your awesome ways of letting us know You're near. God is good to us.

Mom has to stop here ... there's so much to say, but it's 4: 20 am. Should go back to sleep. We are taking Aunty Jessie to your garden in the morning.

Happy Birthday, Son ... and have a big piece of ice-cream cake with Jesus and Mama Mary on our behalf. :D

Call 302 : 23RD MONTH

Hello Son,

Today is your 23rd month with Jesus and Mama Mary in Heaven.

We're thinking about You and missing You very much, Daniel.  :D

Christmas will never be the same again.

The tree is not up, we have plenty of excuses why we're not putting the tree up again this year.

Call 301 : SAME NUMBERS

Hello Son,

Saturday December 17

This morning, Dad and Mom went to the Gardens Mall. We were attending our company's event, and we wanted to get a present for gift exchange later.

Entering the car park, Mom told Dad she wanted to take a photo of the "scribble." Remember the scribble on the wall? Yes, we were going to that same mall.

Jason <3 M ...

Call 300 : Scribble Scribble

Here's where Dad parked the other day when the graffiti was discovered. See the black car on the extreme right? Dad parked in the bay next to it.

See the white wall? The graffiti is on the left side of the wall - except that it is faint and it is difficult for You to see it in this photo.

So take a step closer ...

Here.

See that?

See the M that your mother initially avoided in Call 300?

After buying 4 coffee mug gift-wrapped items, we were on the way to the company for a Christmas gathering.

Dad was driving.

Along the highway, at one point, Mom happened to notice that this car below had been traveling in front of us for quite a while.

24

Mom remarked, "See the 24? Remember the movie the other day - the 1204 ... the birth of the baby? 24, 21, 14 ... all him ..."

Call 300 : Scribble Scribble

Dad nodded.

Would You believe it but less than 5 seconds later, a white vehicle zoomed past us on the right lane with the number plate :

2104

Mom yelled out loud, "OMG, Look! 2104 ... Same numbers!"

Oh Wow ...

What are the chances???

See the white car on the extreme right ...

That's the 2104 car.

Mom pointed to the dashboard.

"Look at the time ..." :D

Oh, it's so obvious. You were definitely with us. :D

Pause.

She couldn't help it but a tiny ...

tiny ...

really really really tiny ...

voice in her head whispered,

"But that car number is a 2104 ... not 1204 ... "

No, not a perfect fit ...

Still, they are all the same numbers, she found herself arguing mentally.

Doubts. She shouldn't be entertaining them.

Still, she found herself stewing and brewing them in her head.

It would be impossible for her to expect TWO of the same inciDAN this time, so she's not gonna expect it. This would be an exception.

Where's your faith, Ma?

Mom remembers this line from You.

We reached the company. There was a nice parking spot one shop away from our company's unit.

Mom got out of the car, and gasped.

OMG ...

You've gotta be kidding.

What are the chances?

Honestly, what are the chances???

Right in front of our car, was a vehicle with the registration number 2104

Oh My ... How awesome.

Now that she has TWO 2104 inciDAN, she has no choice but to take serious notice that her son is near.

That's the rule.

She knows. He knows. God knows.

At one point in the afternoon, she turned to her right, and saw 2104, and at the same time, as she turned to her left, she saw ...

24 ...

OMG ...

Oh Gee Wow ...

Left, right and center, You're around.

Yes, You're around.

You are so around.

All the time.

How perfectly amazing ... :D

Stay close always.

Talk to You again, Son ... falling asleep.

Call 300 : SCRIBBLE SCRIBBLE

Hello Son,

Oh Wow ...

Something amazing happened on Sunday, Dec 11

Yes, the familiar zap zap zap.

What a way to make your presence felt, Son ...

On Sunday evening, about 7:45 pm, Dad and Mom left the condo to go for dinner at a nearby mall. Dad drove to Mom's usual spot. There were 3 available parking bays that day. Being a Sunday, and the next day a working day, the parking area was not as packed.

Dad drove close to a wall, before reversing back to a parking spot.

Mom couldn't believe her eyes when she suddenly spotted the word :

SON

that was scribbled on the wall.

W-what ???

As Dad backed into the parking bay, Mom saw the complete graffiti that was on the wall :

JASON

<3

M

Mom took a photo of the graffiti with her cell and had intentionally missed out the M at the bottom.

As M had no connection whatsoever to You, she deliberately focused her cell camera on Jason, omitting the M, when she took the above photo.

Mom said to Dad, "Son's with us ... See the name Jason?" as she pointed to the wall. :D

Dad saw.  :D

We were meant to see that. Had Dad picked another bay to park the car, he would not have driven close to that graffiti wall before reversing back.

click on title to view video

Something was about to happen, she could feel it. That graffiti was to get her attention. A million names that could have been on the wall, it had to be your (second) name.

Anyway, we bought our tickets before going for dinner.

After a nice dinner, we walked to the cinema. Dad lined up for popcorn, while Mom was on the opposite stall getting a cafe latte.

The lady in front of your mother was waiting for her coffee. The cashier said to the lady, "Fourteen ringgit and ten cents."

Mom heard.

Mom smiled.

You're near.

It's so obvious.

Mom did not need to hear that, but she did. Had she arrived at the spot 5 seconds earlier or later, she would have missed that angel line.

RM14:10

Decode : 24

That's You.

Your birth date. :D

That was easy.

The movie started.

Where's the popcorn?

Munch Munch Munch ...

Then came one point in the movie, when your mother heard your name.

Would You believe it but one of the character's name is Daniel?

Oh Wow, Oh Gosh, Oh My, what are the chances of seeing JASON on the wall when we came into the mall, and now hear DANIEL in the movie?

Angel chance.

As Mom watched on, she couldn't help but remember that last New Year's Eve with You in your bedroom back in 2009. Like that character (played by Robert De Niro) in hospital.

That brought back a lot of memories, Son. :(

Anyway, Mom's not gonna go down that path today.

When the movie was about to end, another sign popped up.

"Midnight 12:04 am." The birth of the babies.

12:04 ...

Decode : 21 / 24 / 14

ZAP ZAP ZAP ...

Oh Gosh ...

All You. No matter how You look at it.

24 - Birth Date

21 - Departure Date

14 - 1 Am Number 4

Nobody Nobody but YOU.

Every little thing reminds us of You, Daniel Jason Phua. :D

So anyway, the next day on Monday, Mom was driving to school. She kept thinking about the inciDANs that happened the night before. It was so strange to see that scribble on the wall.

Jason <3 M

Hmmm, "M" ???

Your mother couldn't help wondering if M could by any chance be MOM ... :D Could it?

Chuckle.

Mom reached in school. It's Monday, December 12, by the way.

About 8:30 am in the morning, a 3 year old girl, her Kumbayah girl E ... Yes, the same girl who said she lives "far far away" ... came to Mom to say something she can't remember what now ... can't remember because Mom wasn't listening to her.

Your mother's eyes were on the little girl's tee shirt.

OMG ...

You have got to be kidding ...

This is E's new tee shirt. Mom has not seen her wear this blue tee before, with these words. OMG ....

OMG ... You really do know how to read your mother's mind. She was wondering whether that letter M could be MOM, and now she reads this???

Don't You think it's weird that the words say,

I Love Mum "more than ever"?

MORE THAN EVER ???

Don't tee shirts just say "I Love Mum"?

Oh Wow ... Your mother was wondering if that scribble was :

Jason loves Mom, and now she sees the reply :

I Love Mom, more than ever.

OMG, how awesome is that???

I Love You la Ma, more than ever ... :D

That evening, Dad and Mom were in the car, driving home from school. Mom told Dad about the tee shirt. As Mom was talking very excitedly, we stopped in front of this car at the lights.

Immediately, your mother gave a yelp.

OMG! Look ...

DAN ...

"You see, he knows we're talking about him!"

2770 ...

Decode : 2140

Oh Gosh. Oh My Gosh ...

Would You believe it?

The same numbers as the midnight 1204

What are the chances???

ZAP ZAP ZAP ...

"OMG ... Do you see the connection?" Mom said triumphantly to Dad.

"I can't believe it. He's connecting me to the movie last night. I'm talking about the I LOVE MUM tee shirt, at the same time, I have to stop in front of this DAN car. The car number connects me to the movie last night. The inciDAN last night was a Daniel Jason ... which means, Helloooo ... Son is giving me that message ..."

Dad could not get a word in, and he didn't have to. Mom did all the talking. It was her experience. And no one else. It really does not matter that Dad does not understand what she just said. She can't really explain it properly herself.

She just knows.

A mother knows.

It's a mother and son thing.
OMG, how awesome!

Mom loves You back, Son ...

Yeah, more than ever.<3

Smiling to bed now, Son ...

Watch over your sister as she prepares for her coming exams.

Call 299 : THE PLAN

Hello Son,

How amazing that You, somewhere over the rainbow, are still able to help Mom over here.

Yup, Mom knows its YOU.

Nobody, nobody but YOU. :D

All YOU.

Yes, YOU.

TWO inciDANs to make sure Mom knows You're near ...

You have the right to remain silent, Son. :D

On Friday (Dec 9) in school ...

Your mother was on the phone with an ex - staff. Among others, Mom had mentioned that she was having a challenge trying to get Mandarin teachers. She had put in an ad in the chinese papers early this week, and believe it or not, only retired men have called up, apart from one 19 year old boy.

You know right, that parents are not that comfortable with male teachers, young or old. Especially when tending to very young children. It's just the way things are ... over here at least. She's not speaking for the rest of the world. Anyway, the only female who called was 60 years old, and she was coughing and panting and she sounded so out of breath when she spoke over the phone.

Tsk Tsk Tsk ...

Yes, You definitely heard Mom's SOS call.

That (Friday) evening ...

after dinner at our favourite noodle restaurant, Mom had a casual chat with the manager of the place. Your mother wanted to find out if she could get a foreign worker to do cleaning etc in school. This coffee shop employs several foreign workers, and Mom thought perhaps she could use the same agency.

Mom did not leave her number since she goes to the restaurant often. :D In fact, if she remembers correctly, her parting words were :

"I'll come next week and check with you ..."

Mom repeats here : She DID NOT leave her number.

The next morning, on Saturday (Dec 10) ...

imagine your mother's surprise to see a text message on her cell that read :

"Labor Supply - We supply foreign workers for mini - market, hotel, restaurant etc. Fast & easy. Call etc ... "

The time of the sms was 12:34:40 am.

Decode : 14

Oh Gee Wow ...

Awesome ...

Mom was grinning from ear to ear as she showed Dad the text.

"Only last night I asked for a foreign worker, and this morning, I get an sms for supply of foreign workers. The text came in after midnight. You see the time? It's Dans. This is not from the girl in the coffee shop, because I didn't give her my number. This sms is sent by Son ..." :D

Dad didn't need much convincing. :D

We left the condo about 7:30 am.

We were meeting some company people at a hotel for breakfast.

We arrived at the hotel about 8 am.

We met.

We ate.

We had a merry time catching up. :D

Then, after breakfast, we drove them to the airport. It was about 10 am when we left the hotel.

After dropping them off, Mom said she wanted to go to IKEA to get a shelf and to check out some books at the book store at the mall there.

Dad said okay.

She was concentrating on the long road ahead of her when she suddenly caught a familiar tune that had come on the radio.

You must have seen your mother sprang forward.

Like Jack - in - the - box. :D

OMG.

Immediately, she turned up the volume like her life depended on it. The volume was turned way down low whilst our guests were in the car just now.

Would You believe it?

If I die young

Bury me in satin

Lay me down on a bed of roses

Sink me in the river at dawn

Send me away with the words

of a love song

OMG ...

Her eyes shot to the time.

The dashboard showed 11:14 am.

As she guessed.

Her 1 Am Number 4 is near.

Very near.

Possibly right beside her. She pulled out her handphone to key in the time and make a note, and saw her cell phone time showing :

11:11 am.

Decode : 4

Oh, even better. More accurate.

Confirmed.

Her Son's right beside her. :D

And who's to say he's not? Not one single soul in this whole wide world would be able to say to your mother's face, he's not. Hah!

Pause ...

Wah Ma, so ganas ah ... (aggressive)

Grin Grin Grin ...

God is faithful. God is good.

Mom showed Dad her cell,

"Look at the time. It's Son. He knows ... He knows I was telling him about the song zaps yesterday (Call 298) ..." :D

You do know ...

Yes, You do ...

You know everything now ... :D

Once again, You have the right to be silent, Daniel. Mom knows You're near. She was not even aware that the radio was on ... Honestly, she doesn't remember hearing any songs in the car, and mind You, we had been traveling for an hour from the hotel to the airport ... No, she did not hear any songs and had thought the radio was off but that song she heard?

You must have whispered to your mother. :D

Yes, You must have.

If I die young on the radio, Mom ... :D

Mystery solved.

Guilty as charged.

Case closed. :D

We arrived at the IPC mall.

Mom went straight to the bookstore. As she was checking through some primary books, and still checking checking checking an hour later, a phone call came.

Would You believe it but it was a girl asking if we had a vacancy in school. She was calling in response to your mother's ad in the chinese papers, so she definitely would know mandarin. The girl also mentioned that she has experience working in a nursery.

Too good to be true.

Mom fixed a time for her to come by the school for an interview.

The time of the call was 2:35 pm.

Decode : 244

24 your birthdate. 4, You.

It's so easy ... (your words from the hospital bed)

Double confirmation. Yes, that was easy, Son. :D Only the day before on Friday, Mom was complaining that it was difficult to get mandarin teachers, and today, she gets a phone call?

You see that? TWO phone inciDANs in response to your mother's SOS call. The foreign worker, and the mandarin teacher.

Thanks Son.

By the way, Mom has called the number of the foreign worker sms and the guy is coming over to the school next week with some biodata.

So anyway ...

Mom bought some books and paid for them at the cashier. Passing the bundle to Dad, she asked your father to take the books to the car. She wanted to spend some more time at the book store.

She didn't know why then, but she knew later.

Mom casually asked one of the shop assistants whether they sold flash card holders. She described to the girl the best she could. The girl said, "Let me take you to the stationery section and you can ask the sales people there."

Mom followed her.

The girl brought your mother to a guy, and briefly explained to him what your mother wanted. Your mother was not listening to him.

Her uh, sharp ears had caught on something else.

OMG ...

The smile on your face lets me know
that You're near me
There's a truth in your eyes saying
You'll never leave me
The touch of your hand says
You'll catch me wherever I fall

You say it best,
when You say nothing at all

Your mother looked up, and saw a speaker hanging on top of a pillar, just about 3 walking steps away from where she was standing.

OMG ...

When You Say Nothing At All, was on.

ZAP ZAP ZAP ...

The time was 2:28 pm.

Decode : 444

Could it get better than this? :D

She had not heard the song when it came on, because when she did hear, the song was already at the chorus. The girl led her right to the speaker. She was meant to hear it. OMG ...

Then, just as she'd caught the song, and heard the chorus verse, it stopped, and some announcements about Christmas promotion came on air.

OMG ... How awesome was that???

You made sure your mother at least heard that :

You say it best, when You say nothing at all

line huh. Why, she was at the spot less than a minute. Had she been a minute later, she would have missed it. Your angel timing is always perfect. Never fails to amaze your mother.

Oh Wow ...

That was really nice, Daniel ...

You would have thought that was all ???

Mom bought some more books, and asked Dad to help her with the basket. We walked to the cashier. After watching the cashier scanned in the prices, we waited patiently for the amount to appear on the till.

It took its time.

Dad was like, "How much?"

The cashier said, "Wait wait ..."

Clearly, a cranky till.

We all waited, our eyes were on the till.

Then, about 10 seconds later, the amount showed.

The cashier said, "Two hundred ringgit and forty cents."

Mom couldn't help beaming. She pointed to Dad.

"See?" She said in low tones. "24 ..."

Yes Son, it's YOU.

That SAY NOTHING song, that was from You.

Mom knows.

You're practically shopping with Mom today. :D

It was almost 6 pm when we finally left the mall.
Dad drove out of the basement parking. Soon, we were on our way home. The radio was on. All weird songs.

At one point, Dad changed the station.

Tom Jones filled the car with Green Green Grass of Home.

The time was 6:06 pm.

Yes, they'll all come to see me

Arms reaching, smiling sweetly

It's good to touch the

green green grass of home

Mom sat silently in anticipation of the spoken words that came on next.

Then I awake, and look around me

At the 4 grey walls that surround me

Oh Gawd - the Box ... And 4 ???

Call 297 : Memory Box

Do You have to remind her?

Now she feels like a plastic bag ...

Yes, they'll all come to see me

in the shade of that old oak tree

As they lay me 'neath the

green green grass of home

Mom couldn't help thinking ...

Her um, Einstein brains by then were working up ...

Look, correct her if she's wrong but ...

Going to the mall, we had IF I DIE YOUNG

Coming back from the mall, let's see :

LAY ME 'NEATH THE GREEN GREEN GRASS OF HOME.

Do You see what she sees?

Both pointing to the same thing.

Same message.

Same person.

Yes, the zap inciDANS always come in TWOs.

So Mom would know for sure, it's from her Son.

Mom asked Dad, "Why did Tom Jones write this song? What happened for him to write this song?"

Dad said he didn't know.

Mom asked again. Dad replied he had no idea.

Mom remarked impatiently,

"You don't know? Tom Jones is during your time, right?"

Dad didn't appreciate the humour.

Huh ... Mom knows why.

It's all part of THE PLAN

It was written just so that she could be zapped years later.

Checking out Wikipedia at the point of writing this entry, she learned that this song was not written by Tom Jones, but was made popular by him when it hit Number One in the UK Singles Charts in 1966.

1966 ...

Right ...

Okay ...

Of course, of all the years that could have been, it has to be a year that is connected to your mother.

Her birth year.

There ... there goes her "I'm always 33 ..." line. :D

Grimace. Sigh, your mother's mood was surely teetering dangerously on the brink of a uh, high cliff. At any moment, she's gonna take a dive down down down to the ...

Her train of thoughts were interrupted when the next song came on and filled her senses.

Hey There, Delilah ...

The time on the dashboard showed 6:08 pm.

Decode : 14

Her Son's reminding her that he's near. No need for any sombre mood.

Dad said quietly, "He taught me how to play this song (on the guitar..."

Pause ...

Yes Son, we remember with a tinge of sadness in our hearts how You used to pluck the guitar to this song.

We miss You ... And your nice singing voice. :(

The second verse came on.

Hey there Delilah

Don't You worry about the distance

I'm right there if You get lonely

Give this song another listen

Close your eyes

Listen to my voice, it's my disguise

I'm by your side

Boy, You really do know your Mom, don't You?

Don't worry about the distance la, Ma ...

I'm right there ...

I'm by your side ...

Her spirits lifted. She found herself looking far into the sky and offering a half-smile to the - clouds.

Yes, all the songs You used to sing at home, in the shower, in the room, in the car, in the lift ... were all part of THE PLAN. Weren't they? Of course they were. How would You zap us otherwise now?

GOD is good.

HIS PLAN is good.

Yes, HIS PLAN is good.

Okay Son, this certainly is a very long call.

Gotta go get some lunch now.
