CALL 661 : RING RING

Hello Son,

Tues, Jan 23, 2024

Dad and Mom were at the KL airport

before 8 am.

Grandma was coming back today.

Your grandmother has been with Aunty Jess

in the States for over 4 months.

So, Grandma flew from LAX on Jan 21

(Jan 21 being your anniversary) and

arrived in KLIA on 23rd.

Today, that is.

Dad was waiting in the car at the arrival point.

He had slipped the car in to wait by the side

when he spotted an empty bay.

Mom noticed the car in front of us.

3737

That's a 44.

Hmmm.

Your mother had to smile.

Of course, you would be with us.

Still smiling at her morning ZAP,

Mom made her way to the Meet & Greet

point.

Mom chose a nice spot,

right in front of the EXIT for passengers.

Your mother wanted to make sure when Grandma

came out of the EXIT, Mom would be able

to see Grandma right away.

The SQ 104 flight had landed.

8:03 am.

7 minutes earlier than schedule.

7:59 am

It was about an hour before Grandma came out.

Mom's eyes were practically glued to the 2 exits

in front of here ... but the moment, she was not

focusing, Grandma appeared.

Grandma actually called out, "Lynn ... Lynn ..."

Mom turned abruptly.

9:11 am

See the metal frame on the left?

Mom was standing there, waiting

for an hour.

Mom quickly snapped a photo, for the

family chat.

Grandma looks so good.

Mom gave Grandma a big hug.

The assistant helped us to the car.

Dad texted and said, "Come to pillar

number 4."

Lol.

But of course.

Which pillar could we have gone to?

Dad had driven nearer to us.

At the car, your father gave a big hug to

Grandma before loading the suitcases

into the car.

In the car, there was so much to say.

Grandma was telling us about this and thats ...

but Mom had caught sight of something -

interesting.

From where Mom was sitting, in the front

passenger seat, Mom saw this :

son ...

And "d?"

Who else could that be, Daniel?

Truly, you right beside us.

Always.

ZAP ZAP ZAP!!!

We were gonna drive to the Megah Rise Mall.

The mall that Mom bought the Lucky YUN

paper bag.

Waze said it would take us 1 hour and 15 minutes.

So, we were in the car, catching up and listening

to all the fascinating stuffs Grandma did in US

with Aunt Jess and Uncle Craig.

We arrived at the mall an hour or so later.

Dad and Mom brought Grandma to the

same coffee shop that we came the last time

we were there.

We were brought to this table.

Grandma flipped over the pictures of the food.

Mom suggested trying the hor fun.

Grandma said ok.

We ordered 2 of hor funs, and Dad called a chicken

rice for himself.

Dad asked what drink Grandma wanted.

Your grandmother said, "Do they have barley

or herbal tea?"

Mom checked.

No barley.

But yes, herbal tea ..

Mom asked, "Luo han guo?"

Grandma said, "Yes. No ice."

Dad was writing down the order numbers.

Dad asked, "What's the code?"

Mom pointed to check.

A big grin came over her face.

Seriously???

Hahahahaha.

D21 ...

Why, excuse me ...

If that's not a big ZAP from her son,

what is.

Daniel 21

ZAP ZAP ZAP!!!

Everywhere we are, there you'll be.

After brunch, we walked around.

So we came to this same mobile stall, where

Mom bought the LUCKY YUN paper bag.

Dad walked over to the paper bags.

Dad said, "Hey, now it's your name ..."

Huh?

What?

What name?

Mom went over.

OMG.

Seriously.

Mom flipped over the paper bags to see if

she could find any LUCKY YUN, or those

HEALTHY and WEALTHY paper bags that

were there the last time ...

but there were no more..

This time, only LIN bags.

HAHAHAHAHA.

Dad said, "Your name ..."

Lynn.

Still Lin ...

Acceptable.

ZAP ZAP ZAP!!!

What are the chances???

Last Sunday, we found your bag,

and today, we find mom's???

Hehehehe.

Hilarious!

How do you do it, seriously???

That evening, the family met up at Grandma's

place.

Aunty Jess had bought a lot of stuff for us.

We were walking over to Grandma's place.

Aunty D was on video chat with Mom when she

suddenly exclaimed excitedly,

"OMG, there's a rainbow in front of me ...

let me take a photo!"

Aunt D saw this rainbow.

A rainbow ...

How wonderful, Daniel ...

You sent a rainbow???

The song If I Die Young sprang to mind.

Lord, make me a rainbow,

I'll shine down on my mother,

She'll know I'm safe with you,

when she stands under my colours ...

Mom told Dad, "Mom's flight was on his 21st,

and she's arrived safely ... Son sent the rainbow ...

I'm sure of it ... like - Welcome back, Amah!"

The timing was just perfect.

Your communication skills are just incredible.

At Grandma's home ...

Oh boy, there was a pile of things that Aunt Jess

and Grandma had bought for us.

Costume jewellery for one.

Ear-rings, bracelets, hair pins, matching sets

and individual necklaces and ear-rings, and ...

oh my, what are those???

Grandma bought about 20 over pieces of fancy rings.

Oh Wow!!!

Grandma said to each of us, Aunty D, Aunty C

and Mom, "to take a few each," before she

presents them to her mahjong-ladies.

Mom was hesitant at first,

and thought she need not take the rings.

They were fanciful and um, like when

is she gonna be wearing them anyways.

Grandma was quick to change Mom's mind.

Your grandmother said, "Take take ...

take a few ... Jessie wears rings on each finger ..."

HAHAHAHA.

Really?

So fun?

So Mom took 3 ...

She put 2 on the right hand ...

and 1 on the left ...

(forgot to snap a photo)

Gosh, so many rings ...

The next few celebrations would be

Chinese New Year, Valentine's Day and

more importantly, Justine's ROM.

We are all gonna wear our rings

rings rings and more rings on

Justine's ROM day.

On 22-2-2024.

Mom is just noticing the numbers now.

Aunty J bought some some casual tops

and scrub pants for Mom, gym outfits

for Justine and shirts for Dad.

Thanks Jess.

Your Aunty J and Grandma surely overdid

the shopping over there.

Oh, not forgetting ...

skin care products for Mom too.

Oh Wow ...

It's Christmas again!

So many presents for everyone.

Here's everyone.

At the time of writing this Call,

Mom is suddenly reminded

of ABBA's song :

RING RING,

Oohhh, ring ring,

amusement and in disbelief.

You really are very creative, Daniel. :D

Ring ring ...
