Call 51 : ANGEL EYES

Hello Son,

This Tuesday morning...

Mom was supposed to follow the school bus to the concert hall for rehearsals. However, first thing in the morning, she had sent a text message to Teacher L to tell her that Mom will go there by her own transport.

Dad's fetching Mom there. You must be joking if You think she can find her way to that concert place somewhere in Cheras. :D Yes yes, that would be a big joke. Chuckle.

Anyway, we left the house at about 10 am.

The song TRAGEDY (by Bee Gees) was on the radio.

That being the first song that came on, Mom wasn't sure if that was a song-message.

After all, we'd just talked about ON EAGLE'S WINGS the day before, how HE will raise YOU up and let YOU shine like the sun, on top of that Justine has just done up your IF I DIE YOUNG video last night, where You have assured your mother time and time again that You're safe with the Lord, and now suddenly it's back to TRAGEDY???

Nahhh, this can't be a message from You ...

True enough, right after that song, You didn't prepare us for this, Son, no hint, no sign, no clue, we were sppechless when we heard the next song, believe it or not :

************************************

IF I DIE YOUNG

************************************

That OMG knowing moment is indescribable. Awesome!

The time on the dashboard showed 10:14am.

Talk about coinciDANS. Your timing is always immaculate. That was You telling us You know about the video. Yes, it's definitely a response to something and THAT must be it. That's why Mom had to take "her own transport" today, and not follow the bus.

So meant to be.

By the way, Dad and Jus are practising that song on their guitars now. They plan to play it for You on your 21st. :D

After the rehearsal ...

Dad and Mom left the hall at about 11:20am. Dad was going to Ipoh with the company people later in the afternoon, so we drove to Lorong Seratus Tahun Restaurant in PJ for a quick bite.

We had curry mee today.

Mom wonders if we could attempt this authentic dish in one of our cooking sessions next. It would have to be after Justine's exams which will end mid-December, so there's still time to check that out.

Dropped Dad off at the PJ office after brunch.

Turned on the radio and a song that sounded like from ABBA was on. Yeah, it was ABBA alright. They have a distinct voice, easily recognizable, these ABBA girls.

Dinosaur-girls to You, yes Mom heard. It was a nice, catchy and familiar tune. She must have heard this song like some, 20 years ago, once - upon - a - time - in - Bethlehem - days ago. :D

Then, the chorus-lyrics came on:

Look into his angel eyes ...

and her reaction was automatic. She reached for her handphone, and with one hand on the steering, she quickly keyed-in those words and time 1:31pm into her mobile. She would check on the song later when she has the time. This was definitely a song she must look into. Did -You - hear - the - line???

Look into his angel eyes???

How much more direct and blunt does she want her son to be with her. It's such a specific instruction.

Look - into - his - ANGEL - eyes.

NOT  : look - into - his - eyes.

Humph, if it were just look - into - his - eyes, she wouldn't bother to check. Or even key that into her handphone.

But Angel eyes???

Ah that, she must definitely check.

Soon, Mom was approaching the turn to Seremban Highway from the Federal Highway. The song had come to an end, and she had turned off the radio. Your mother wanted some quiet time to herself.

She was writing Call-Entry 46 this morning, and it was overwhelming, to say the least. She remembered her amazement when the song ESPECIALLY FOR YOU had come on on that day, it was just so timely, especially at the line:

And now that I'm next to You ...

She was enjoying her thoughts all alone by herself, when a white pick-up truck on the lane on her left in front of her, gave its signal to move to her lane. Mom slowed down to allow some space for the truck to move in to her lane. It slipped nicely, right in front of her car. The first thing Mom noticed was the number plate which left her staring at the number for a good few minutes. It was a loud number.

2 4 4 5

Mom felt your presence instantly. It's just a mother's instincts.

She cannot be alone by herself, thinking her own thoughts by herself. Don't even think about it. You are so with her, so right beside her, and You want her to know that.

You really are right next to Mom, aren't You? :D

MUSIC VIDEO : ANGEL EYES (ABBA)

(the lyrics and the music don't seem to synchronize
so will post the lyrics here. use a separate window to view the video.)

Ah-ha-ha, ah-aaaah

Ah-ha-ha, ah-aaaah

Ah-ha-ha, keep thinking 'bout his angel eyes

I keep thinking, a-aaah

Last night I was taking a walk along the river

And I saw him together with a young girl

And the look that he gave her made me shiver

Cause he always used to look at me that way

And I thought maybe I should walk right up to her and say

Ah-ha-ha, it's a game he likes to play

Look into his angel eyes

One look and you're hypnotized

He'll take your heart and you must pay the price

Look into his angel eyes

You'll think you're in paradise

And one day you'll find out he wears a disguise

Don't look too deep into those angel eyes

Oh no no no no

Ah-ha-ha, ah-aaaah

Ah-ha-ha, ah-aaaah

Ah-ha-ha, keep thinking 'bout his angel eyes

I keep thinking, a-aaah

Sometimes when I'm lonely I sit and think about him

And it hurts to remember all the good times

When I thought I could never live without him

And I wonder does it have to be the same

Every time when I see him, will it bring back all the pain?

Ah-ha-ha, how can I forget that name?

Look into his angel eyes

One look and you're hypnotized

He'll take your heart and you must pay the price

Look into his angel eyes

You'll think you're in paradise

And one day you'll find out he wears a disguise

Don't look too deep into those angel eyes

Crazy 'bout his angel eyes

Angel eyes

Once he took my heart and now I pay the price

Look into his angel eyes

You'll think you're in paradise

And one day you'll find out he wears a disguise

Don't look too deep into those angel eyes

Oh no no no no

Ah-ha-ha, ah-aaaah

Ah-ha-ha, ah-aaaah

Ah-ha-ha, keep thinking, ah-aaaah

Keep thinking 'bout his angel eyes

Ah-ha-ha, keep thinking, ah-aaaah

Keep thinking, I had to pay the price

After listening to the music video, Mom has to say, this song really reminds her of the time when You very young, 11 months old. Justine was celebrating her 2 year old birthday at McDonald's PJ branch, opposite Jaya supermarket.

You had learned a new game.

To blink blink blink your eyes when we say, "beautiful eyes."

Your first maid had taught You that. She took care of You since birth till You were about 5 years old, after which she left to work in Hong Kong. The first two years or so, she had called You on your birthday. After that there had been no contact whatsoever. Almost 8 years of no contact. Yet, she had attended your Farewell Mass on Jan 23rd this year. You must have made that possible for her, Son. She knew that too. Your way of saying "Thank You, Aunty Erna for taking care of me."

Anyway ...

The birthday party was over, and Mom was carrying You. You were very tired, your head was rested on Mom's shoulders, and we were walking down the stairs in McDonald's restaurant.

Then, Aunty Jessie said to You:

"Daniel, show your beautiful eyes?"

You lifted your head immediately to oblige her, and started to bat your lids. Blink Blink Blink. Aunty Jessie was thrilled You understood the little code-word. You were so cute to watch especially when You wouldn't stop.

Yes, that was a game You liked to play alright. :D Writing about it now brings back fond memories, Son.

When You continued to blink blink blink some more, Aunty Jessie was like, "Okay Daniel, enough already, enough, enough ... enough."

You stopped for a few seconds, lay your head back down on your mother's shoulders, and then suddenly You sprang up, and started to blink blink blink again. That reaction was so unexpected, it made us all burst into laughter.

Grandma saw all the blinking, and was not amused.

She said, "Don't teach him that. You see? You see? It's becoming a habit. No Daniel, No (she waggled her finger, and You blink blink blink some more) ... No ... No ... Amah say No ..."

Remember that?

Hmmm, how would You remember that ...

You were only 11 months old.

Or maybe You DO remember, and that's why somehow your mother had to turn on the radio at the time when the song was on. You knew Mom would somehow connect the song Angel Eyes to HER Son's Angel Eyes and then, when she thinks about HIS eyes, she'd remember the game You used to play.

The big 2445 truck didn't slip in front of her car for nothing. That was probably You telling Mom You're right next to her. :D

Oh Wow. What an absolutely awesome feeling.

Something so-very-precious between Mother and Son. :D

Well Daniel, You'll have to sing along the Angel Eyes song, since You are the one with the angel eyes

In fact, You should ask all your other angel-friends to sing along too, especially those who left for Heaven before their parents, since all of You were here on earth in disguise

Go on, go borrow a mike from God now. Go Son and let's sing it together. :D
