Call 519 : FAITH HILL

Hello Son,

Saturday, January 18

We went to your garden on Friday 17th.

We drove out from our newly rented car park, that was about a stone's throw from our lift.

Mom said, "He definitely got this car park for us. He knows I didn't like the other car park ..." (that was given by the condo management, which was like on the other block ... far far away).

Dad agreed. We only got the access card last night, and had parked the car on the new bay late last night. This morning, as we were going to your garden, we drove out from the new bay, and somehow, we all knew.

Your family, that is.

We knew.

You had something to do with us getting this new bay.

Thanks Son. That was You, we know.

So anyway, we drove to your garden.

See Call 518 : 4th Anniversary

At the garden, at one point, as Mom was clearing and tidying up the place, there was a sudden burst of ANTS that came a-crawling out from beneath a loose tile on Grandpa's tomb.

Justine said, "Ma, you disturbed the ants' nest ..."

Something or rather, to that effect.

Mom looked at all the ants crawling about, and didn't quite know what to do.

Thankfully, in less than a minute, all the ants subsided and went straight into hiding.

On their own.

The place was completely cleared of those creepy crawlies.

Oh wow ...

Ants ...

Mom had to smile.

You're making your presence felt, she knows.

But of course, You would know that we were at your garden then, wouldn't You?

You would.

That was a loud holler all the way from heaven.

Justine took some photos at the garden and posted on the family whatsapp (8:20 am).

Aunty J from the States responded at 10:07 am,

"Awww Dans, was it you who got my elementary class going? I now have 5 first graders and 2 second graders... potentially 2 third graders on waitlist cos I'm not starting that class yet.The last few days have been God sent amazing ..."

Mom replied, "Wow, dats great to hear. Dans definitely got a car park for us in front of our block."

The day passed.

At 1:21 pm, Mom received a phone call from Aunt Di.

Aunty Di said, "Eh, you won't believe what happened. Chris and I are at the IT fair. We were about to buy a computer (or did she say tablet now, Mom can't remember ...). It was RM1,800. Chris gave his debit card to pay with it. The card was rejected. Then, he gave his credit card, and that card was also rejected. We had to go find a ATM to take out cash. So, we went to get cash out from ATM machine, and we were walking back to that computer booth. On the way, a guy from another IT store came up to us and showed us another model. It was a better model, with all the side benefits which the other one didn't have ... and the price was RM1,400. Omg ... can you believe it? Even Chris can't believe it ..."

RM1400???

Mom laughed, "It was Dans for sure. He's saying Aunty Di, there's a better model, and cheaper one too at this other store ... Hahaha ..."

Aunty Di continued, "I know right? I can't believe it ... Chris also can't believe it ... his debit card and his credit card both rejected at that first place ..."

Smile.

It was pretty clear that You were shopping with your Aunty Di. That was a good buy for Aunty Di. She's really happy about the purchase.

Thanks Son. :D

So anyway, we were in the car, leaving after having brunch at a noodle shop, when there was a short announcement about a SALE at FOREVER 21.

On the radio.

The time was 2:59 pm.

Your mother's brains went to work at top speed.

Nine two, seven ... seven five ... twelve.

12

Secret Code : 21

Forever 21 indeed.

Grin.

Everywhere we are, there You'll be, Daniel.

Saturday, January 18

The next day, Dad and Mom got up early to catch the first flight to Singapore.

Dad said the cab will be coming at 7 am.

Our flight was at 8:50 am. We should be at the airport at least an hour before flight time.

Mom said, "You should have called the cab to come at 6:45 am."

It was about 6:30 am then and we were ready to go.

Would you believe it but shortly after, Dad received a call.

It was the cab guy. He called to ask for directions to our condo. After the call, Dad and Mom took our luggage and went down to the condo porch. The cab was there.

Mom looked at the time, and gasped, "Omg ... it is 6:45 am ... You see? Son heard me ..."

Dad said with a laugh, "Everything you want, your son will give you ..."

"You want the cab at 6:45, Ma? Here it is ..." Dad mimicked.

Chuckle.

In the cab, Mom thought happily to herself.

You're right beside Mom, aren't You, Son? Why, 6:45 ... That's 15.

Forever 15.

Hmmm ... Forever 21 ... and Forever 15.

That's a whole lot of Forevers today, huh.

At the airport, after getting our boarding passes, Dad and Mom were at DOME cafe having coffee while waiting for boarding time.

The airport was quiet.

Suddenly, there was an announcement on the overhead PA system.

Passenger DANIEL Fernandes,

DANIEL Fernandes ...

Please report for boarding now.

Thank you.

Your parents exchanged a smile.

Mom glanced at her cell time. It was 8:18 am.

Decode : (17)  44

Her angel sign.

Everywhere Daniel ... everywhere we are, there You'll be.

All the time.

A second sign would soon come. You know your mother by now.

She needs two signs.

Yeah. All the time.

Two signs.

A second announcement came overhead.

Passengers to Danpasar,

please prepare for boarding.

"Danpasar?" Mom laughed.

Where's Danpasar?

At writing time, Mom googled the place and found that the correct name is DENPASAR.

Ah, no spelling error can stop her from feeling the ZAP ZAP ZAP. :D

Yes, we have to think out of the um, den.

We finished our coffee. It was soon time to go to our boarding gate.

Gate 31.

Smile.

We pushed our trolly with luggage towards the gate.

Dad wanted to visit the rest room. Mom pushed the trolly nearby a staircase to wait for Dad. As she parked her trolly, she looked up to see this :

Okay, You know what? You can't see it from this photo ... but the number 21 was staring at her from beyond the glass windows. As she was standing there, and trying to snap a photo of her eviDANS, she heard a mother calling out impatiently:

"Where are you, Daniel? Daniel, where are you?"

Mom looked up, and saw the mother (about 10 steps away from her) and her boy, probably about 5 years old.

Time stood still.

Omgosh ... honestly, what are the chances???

Dad came out just then. Mom was bursting to tell Dad. He was only gone for like 5 minutes. Yet, during the short time, her son had gave her a ...

ZAP ZAP ZAP.

Truly, everywhere we are, there You'll be ...

As we were walking to the plane, Mom pointed out to Dad, "That's the boy. His name is Daniel ... You try to listen and see when his mom calls him ... The mother was like, where are you, Daniel? just now ... Omg ..."

Dad grinned.

Dad never heard the mother calling her son, and neither did Mom, after that.

The moment had passed.

Hmmm.

In Singapore ...

We made our way to Amara Hotel.

At Amara, Mom wanted to get some eye drops, and so we made our way to Watsons.

Oh boy, You're so not gonna believe it but moments after we stepped in to the store, the song THERE YOU'LL BE (FAITH HILL) came on. The song did not start at the beginning, but rather towards the end of the first paragraph.

When I look back on these days

I will look and see your face

You were right there for me

In my dreams, I'll always see you soar above the sky

In my heart, there'll always be a place for you for all my life

I'll keep a part of you with me

And everywhere I am, there you'll be

Dad and Mom were in Watsons, listening to the song, together.

It was unbelievable.

"Daniel is truly, truly with us ... What are the chances? There's so many stores here. Yet, this is the first shop we came to ... We were meant to hear to hear this song."

Gosh.

How would You explain this?

We would soon be putting the notice in the papers for your 21st (Tuesday).

You know that, don't You?

So anyway ...

The next day, on Sunday 19th.

We were on the train (MRT). Mom was on a seat and Dad, on her left.

There was a young girl in a HELLO KITTY pink jacket.

She was standing by the door. Mom found herself looking at her HELLO KITTY jacket for some reason.

Leaning over to Dad, she whispered, "See there? HELLO KITTY ... HELLO KITTY and DEAR DANIEL ... They are partners. Did you know that?"

Dad nodded. As he turned to look, the girl disappeared, having stepped out of the train at her stop.

Aiyah.

No sooner had she said that, another young girl came aboard the train, in another pink HELLO KITTY tee shirt this time, and sat beside Dad.

Pause.

O -- M -- G ...

What are the chances?

Dad and Mom had to hide our smiles. Gosh, it really was so obvious.

You really are everywhere, Daniel.

Mom whispered, "You missed the first HELLO KITTY so your son sent you a second one ..." :D

Grin.

On Saturday Jan 25 ...

Mom went to do her nails.

The girl gave her her number for her slippers.

Mom looked at it. It was the same number as the last time she visited the nail salon, which was a month ago.

Decode : 21

Smile.

You are / were with Mom, weren't You, Son?

As her feet were having a nice pampering spa treatment, Mom found herself picking up a magazine with Jennifer Aniston on the cover.

WOMEN's WEEKLY, if she remembers correctly.

She was casually flipping through the magazine when she came upon this page that made her hold her breath.

Omg ...

Omg ...

FAITH HILL???

Seriously, FAITH HILL???

There You'll Be -- Faith Hill???

Omg, what are the chances???

ZAP ZAP ZAP.

Gosh, see how You quietly remind Mom that You're near (# 21) before zapping her.

Truly, Daniel ... truly truly truly ...

Everywhere we are, there You'll be ... :D

Call 518 : 4TH ANNIVERSARY

Hello Son,

Today is your 4th year with Jesus and Mother Mary up there, somewhere over the rainbow.

Only God knows how much we miss You. If not for the long distance calls between heaven and earth, Mom would not have been able to carry on.

So much to tell You, but those will have to wait.

Tell You during the weekend.

Dad placed a notice in the papers.

The Star Paper, Tuesday January 21, 2014

daniel's video

We miss your handsome face, Son.

Here's Justine singing a song for You. The photo below was taken last Friday whilst we were at your garden.

There is not a mili-fraction of a second that You are not in our thoughts, Daniel.

You always, always are. <3

Thank you Jesus for the resurrection ... because of the resurrection, You cannot no longer die but will live forever with the Lord in His kingdom.

Someday we will be together again. :D

Call 517 : LION's DEN

Hello Son,                                             (continue from Call 516)

Christmas Eve

It was December 24th.

Dad's birthday ...

And yours.

We arrived in Phuket and took a van to the hotel.

It was late in the evening when we finally arrived at the hotel. Almost 7 pm, if Mom remembers correctly. It was Dad's birthday. We had to get a cake. She was on the look out for a bakery or cake shop all along the way from the airport to the hotel, but she did not see any of such shop.

We must have a birthday cake.

It's Dad's birthday.

And yours.

And it's Christmas Eve ... the eve of Jesus' birthday.

We had made reservations for 4 rooms.

One for Amah and Aunty C.

One for Aunty Diana and family.

One for Aunty Jessie and hubby.

And one for ourselves.

The hotel girl at the reception gave us our rooms on the same floor, nearby one another.

"Megan likes to visit ..." said Aunty Jessie.

By the way, at the point of writing, a cook show is on telly, and the host just said, "Congratulations Danielle ..."

Danielle ...

CoinciDANS???

But of course.

You're connecting with Mom, she knows.

She's hearing the name being repeated several times now. :D

So anyway ...

Dad, Mom and Justine were in our hotel room, when Aunty Jessie came over and said, "Hey, someone delivered a cake to our room ... Did you order a cake?"

Huh?

Aunty J repeated, "Did you order a cake?"

Of course not.

We soon found out that the hotel left us a Christmas / celebratory item in each of our rooms.

Omgosh ...

Happy birthday, Dad ... :D

Mom heard You.

Omg ...

The surprise gifts in our hotel rooms.

Woah. Quality chocolates.

Christmas Cookies.

Red wine, anyone?

A chocolate cake!

Rich creamy chocolate ... :D

Mom was speechless for a moment before she burst out, "Oh my gosh, we've been looking for a cake for Bryan ... and here it is. We have 4 items to celebrate his birthday with. Omg ..."

What a coinciDANS.

You planned this, didn't You, Son?

All of a sudden, she was too aware of the air-conned setting.

24??? You're with us, for sure. And Amen? Ah yes, Amen.

Mom noticed the 1234 ... <3     ZAP ZAP ZAP!

Two zaps from the air conditioner.

You're with us, Mom knows. :D

Guess what everyone's getting for Christmas?

We took the chocolates, the cake and the wine with us to dinner.

Dad's birthday dinner. :D

There was a man entertaining the patrons with songs in the background.

He didn't have that good a voice, we noticed.

Chuckle.

Just as our food was being served, the introduction of the next song made your mother hold her breath.

Literally.

The time was 8:31 pm.

Decode : 21

Omg ...

Seriously?

Mom sat very still in her chair for a few seconds before turning to Dad to whisper, "Omg, do you hear that? When you say nothing at all. It's 8:31 ... that's twenty-one ... Son's definitely saying, Happy Birthday Dad."

Dad nodded and smiled, "Happy birthday, Son ..."

Mom listened and hummed under her breath as she watched the dishes being brought to the table, one by one.

It's amazing how you can speak right to my heart

Without saying a word, You can light up the dark

Try as I may, I can never explain

What I hear when you don't say a thing

The smile on your face lets me know that you're near me

There's a truth in your eyes saying you'll never leave me

The touch of your hands say you'll catch me

Whenever I fall

You say it best, when You say nothing at all

Mom had to smile.

Yes Son, You say it best, when You say nothing at all. :D

Cheers to Bryan and Daniel. Many happy returns of the day. :D

Smile, people! :D

We enjoyed our dinner very much.

At the end of the dinner, the waiter appeared with a tray of local fruits, and said,

"This is free ..."

Say what?

FREE???

OMG ...

ZAP ZAP ZAP!!!

Just so You know, your FREE pink tee shirt is hanging in Mom's wardrobe.

Grimace.

After dinner, Megan happened to walk over to a little girl holding a cocktail umbrella at the bar, and was intrigued by it. A waiter immediately came by to give Megan another cocktail umbrella. Soon both girls were holding those tiny umbrellas with their tiny fingers.

Mom leaned over to Dad and said, "You see children? They don't have to speak ... but they can make a connection ..."

Right after Mom finished her sentence, Dad and Mom watched Megan and her new friend pointing their umbrellas to touch each other's.

Mom pounced, "You see? They're making a connection ..."

Like You.

Then, another waiter appeared and gave the two girls a banana each.

Pause.

Oh wow.

Bananas.

ZAP ZAP ZAP.

That was your last fruit, and last food, that You had before You left us the next day.

Mom watched silently.

Sniff.

There was a heavy ache in her heart.

If only You were still with us, Daniel.

If only ... Mom will always have that line in her head and heart, Son.

Permanently engraved in her.

Like forever.

That line.

If only You were still with us, Daniel.

A voice interrupted her thoughts as she felt a flash of enlightening that told her that,

"But I'm here, Ma ... I'm right here ..."

Mom hears You.

Truly, You say it best when You say nothing at all.

How she is able to hear and see so much more, she will never understand.

Ah, but she gets the message.

The connection.

The ZAP.

ZAP.

ZAP.

From where the little girls were sitting, Mom suddenly noticed the statue of a lion on the right. Behind the TV screen.

Oh my goodness.

You've gotta be kidding.

A lion?

Seriously? What are the chances?

No chance.

Omgosh.

On our way to the airport from home (Dec 22, 2 days ago then), Aunty Carol had sent the family a text (we were travelling in two separate cabs) with a photo of a cloud.

Aunty C's sms : What do u see?

Mom looked at the image and replied : boy waving

(only You will know that she had wanted to say, "Daniel is waving.")

Aunty C replied : looks like a lion on 2 legs.

Huh? A lion? Mom had thought. Far from it. It's Daniel waving.

That sms was soon forgotten ...

... until she saw the lion.

Oh gosh, what are the chances?

Mom said to Dad, "He must have picked this place for you ..."

Clearly, that was what happened.

That moment had felt surreal. Think about it. The two umbrellas making a connection ... the bananas ... and the lion. It was so obvious that You were / are with us.

All the time, Mom knows.

You must have planned it all, for sure. From the cake to the chocs to the wine and the Christmas cookies ... and a nice place for Dad for his birthday dinner ... where we could feel your presence.

Yeah, the lion was the -- anchor. :D

Thank you, Son. And how did You celebrate your birthday up there? With Jesus and Mama Mary and all the angels. What it must be like to have a celebration in God's house, Son. Someday we're all gonna be together again, celebrating together.

That's God's promise and your mother is holding Him to that.

After dinner, Uncle Craig suggested we hang out at a rock cafe. Dad asked Mom whether she wanted to go, and she surprised herself by saying, YES. It was after all, Dad's birthday ... Yeah, we should all go celebrated.

The night is still young.

Before we knew it, we found ourselves in Rock City. Uncle Craig used to play in a band and had long, hippy hair, and so we're thinking, he wanted to re-live those moments. :D

In the pub, we were led to the first floor, over-looking the stage.

Justine posing at the entrance.

Oh boy, You're so not gonna believe this.

Where we were sitting / standing, Mom suddenly spotted the banner
JACK DANIELS on her right.

Dad saw it too.

Dad said, "Son must have brought You here because I didn't think you'd want to come here after dinner ... Not like you to want to hang out here ..."

Yes Son, You must have whispered to Mom.

Go wherever they take you, Ma ... :D

Grin.

Aww Son, You're really with us all the way, aren't You?

Mom was snapping a photo of the Jack Daniels' banner when she suddenly spotted JASON at the back of the banner.

Omg.

Excitedly, she burst out to Dad and Justine.

The music was loud, she had to shout anyway.

Omg. What are the chances??

DANIEL JASON???

Seriously???

Like --- SERIOUSLY ???

ZAP ZAP ZAP.

Oh Lord ... You truly take my breath away. How could this happen unless You allow it? Thank You, Jesus for the resurrection. No way this could have happened unless it was meant to be. Mom wasn't even supposed to be there ... but she was -- led ....

Oh, by the way, all the rock songs were a bit weird for her until, yes until, the guy sang

LIVIN' ON A PRAYER.

That did it.

When that song came on, she had in fact got up from her stool, voluntarily, some might say -- uh, possessed -- and started to  head bang a little.

Grin.

Dad was quite shocked to be honest, but Mom didn't care. The whole evening had been surreal. She danced away like she was being -- um -- electrocuted.

Hahaha.

Yeah, your mother.

Were You shaking your head?

Aunty Jessie said to the family, "Ah, that's Chare-Chare's generation ..."

(Chare = sister)

Livin' On A Prayer ...

Who would have thought ... Truly, she's livin' on a prayer ... You might say.

So anyway, here's a video of Bon Jovi singing LIVIN' ON A PRAYER with Taylor Swift and Prince William. Now, the first video is suitable for You to view. It's clean and um, wholesome. Mom's sure Mama Mary will approve. :D

Bon Jovi with Taylor Swift and Prince William

The second video is more for You to hear the song, as it should be. :D

At the point of writing here, the cleaner called Mom to the guest room, to ask where she should keep the books (that are on the floor). We're trying to clear some of our very old books to make space for not that old books. Mom picked up some of your JOKE books, your Calvin & Hobbs, and then ...

Gasp!!!

Omg ...

The LION zap.

Truly, You planned the dinner that night of Dad's birthday.

Slow Ma, slow ...

Mom had kept wondering what connection the LION has with You, and only now, she sees the picture. Yes, Daniel in the lion's den. We read that story a few times, didn't we? And that was how Mom believed that God would have shut the mouths of those naughty cells ... and not allow them to hurt You.

Gosh Daniel, we did not see that connection at all.

Lion ...

Not Justine.

Not Dad.

Anyway, going back to the photos, here are some more taken at the rock cafe.

The waitress showed her annoyance when Aunty C ordered -- water.

Hahaha.

Here's the guy -- he can actually scream quite well -- reminds us of Adam Lambert.

Some people are just born to -- scream their lungs out.

See the bald guitarist on the right?

So at one point, that bald guy took off his shirt.

Eeeeeeeeee!!!

Boooooooooo!!!

Thumbs down down down.

That came from your Mom.

It was time to go.

Justine called out to Mom and signalled her to go over.

She showed Mom a photo in her cell.

It was of You in the park, and making a monster face and action.

From Justine's cell.

Oh my.

"Your brother is definitely with us, Jus ..." Mom said as she looked at the photo.

"What made you think of this photo?" Mom asked.

Your sister replied, "I happened to be scrolling through my photo gallery ..."

On that day?

That time?

That moment?

That was a clear "Hi Jus ..." all the way from heaven.

Dad said You were mimicking the --- gorilla --- that appeared from nowhere in a horror ride in Disneyland (or Universal Studios).

By the way, Son, Aunty J sent a video (http://youtu.be/MNCzSfv4hX8) at 11:06 am with the message,

"Those powerful lions ... wow .. simply magnificent."

That was about the same time Mom stumbled upon the Daniel in the Lion's Den book. She had heard her phone beeped but did not check the text until now. Oh gosh. Unbelievable.

Lions???

11:06 ???

Decode : 44

Oh gosh.

ZAP ZAP ZAP!!!
