Hello Son,
So, last day of school on Friday, Dec 15,
we celebrated Dad's birthday in school.
The children made the batter the day before.
Mom made the cheese frosting.
As usual, we sprinkled rainbow rice on top
and threw in a handful of fruit gummies.
Ooh, it was perfect!
Selfie time.
Cheers!
Our children sang the birthday song and
waited patiently for their goodies.
After school, Dad and Mom went down to the car.
School is on the 5th floor.
There was an unfamiliar black color car
that Dad walked over to ...
and opened the car door.
"What's this?" Mom asked.
Dad answered casually,
"Just testing."
It was a BMW X3.
Photos are taken from Dad's gallery.
Not in school.
The car looks like this.
Mom hopped in.
She didn't think too much of it.
It's just for a test drive.
Mom made it clear she didn't like black.
Dad said it is brown.
Dark brown.
Plus it glitters in the sun.
Anyway, to make a long story short,
Dad had every intention of buying the car.
OMG.
What???
Wow.
Imagine that.
Dad just blew his birthday candles,
and now he gets a car???
It was almost a brand new car,
but with a fraction of the cost.
Almost ...
it was a company's car
which was hardly used.
Even the handbook
is brand new,
and apparently not even opened.
The car smelled new.
There was no dust,
no ...
not a dot of dust.
Gosh.
Only Daniel could have arranged for this,
Mom said.
Seriously ...
No way, we could have afford the car -
brand new.
But here we have,
an almost brand new BMW X3 ...
at an unbelievable price.
Mom said, "718 ..."
What a nice number
718
88
44 44
ZAP ZAP ZAP!!!
"This is clearly a birthday present
from Son," Mom said to Dad.
For sure.
Dad confirmed the car order
the following day.
The "test drive" was supposed
to be for Mom's benefit.
Haha.
Dad was very happy with his
birthday present. Lol.
Thanks Son.
That was like some miraculous
maneuvering, you did there.
Mom knows.
On Saturday, Dec 16 ...
Dad wanted to go to JPN
(Road Transport Dept)
to register the car.
It was a Saturday.
School had ended.
Holidays started.
Mom didn't want to stay at home.
So Dad dropped Mom at the
Gardens Mall to do some shopping.
At the Mall, Mom went straight to
Oriental Kopi.
Your parents' favourite coffee joint.
Better than Starbucks.
Better than Coffee Bean.
Haha.
(photo from google) |
There was a long line.
As usual.
We normally have to queue
for about 15 to 30 mins.
However, that day, Mom was able to
cut the long line.
The waiter/usher spotted your mother
on her own, and sent her in
for one pax table.
Mom had to smile
when she saw her table number.
13
That's a clear number 4.
Mom was not alone.
You were with her.
That's for sure.
Mom sent a text to Dad (9:15 am).
"I cut line. One person."
and a snapshot of her table number.
Mom ordered hot coffee, eggs and
toast bread with kaya and butter.
You would have seen your mother
take her time with her breakfast.
At 10:40am, Mom sent a text to Dad
to see if Dad was done with
the registration stuff.
Dad said, "Won't be ready
for another 2 hours."
So Mom went shopping.
Shop.
Shop.
Shop.
There are so many Christmas
presents to get.
Dad was finally done with the registration
of the car and came over to the Mall.
Dad sent a photo of the car and said,
"Just parked."
It was 1:51 pm.
Dad soon appeared at Isetan,
where Mom was at the time.
Dad showed Mom the
registration paper.
Mom said, "Buy number."
So anyway, we spent a few more hours
at the Mall, before leaving for home at 5 pm.
We stopped at Magnum
to buy our lucky numbers.
Okay, so the above is a clip shot of the
registration document of Dad's new car.
Mom said, "1120 ... (at top right)."
(registration number)
and 1112 ... (bottom left)
(chassis/engine number)
We ended up buying a whole bunch
of other numbers. LOL.
All in all, there were 12 numbers
including
1120 and 1112.
Late that Saturday night,
we checked the Magnum results.
Mom was quite cool, if she recalls,
when she saw the
1st prize number.
1122

Seriously what??
So -- close.
WOW.
Mom couldn't believe her eyes.
Almost - 1st prize!
Almost!
Mom was so excited ...
even though we didn't win anything.
But it was close.
We almost - won 1st prize.
Thank you, Son -- that
split-of-a-second
moment was -- exhilarating!
Meanwhile, Grandma sent some photos
of her with Aunt Jess in the US.
They were in Las Vegas
for Christmas and New Year's.
Fast Forward ...
to Christmas Eve.
December 24th.
Dad's birthday (actual)
and your birthday.
Christmas Eve.
Both your birthdays.
The family is coming over for dinner.
Justine created this charcuterie board. |
Mom made a second cake for Dad.
The first was by the children in school,
on the 15th remember?
This was a red velvet
instant cake powder mix.
Haha.
Dad said it was yummy delicious.
Ryan's Dad said it was better than
the cakes in the shop.
Hehe.
Thanks, Better Crocker.
You really do make our baking easier.
Here is everyone.
Aunty D and family.
Aunty C.
Justine and K.
Aunt Jess and Grandma at Las Vegas.
(Text came in).
Looks like somebody's been good this year?
And they huff ...
and they puff ...
and they blew out all the candles.
Christmas Eve dinner was awesome
with the family.
Wish Aunt J and Grandma
were with us here, or us with them over there.
Grandma is having a great time in Las Vegas.
Ryan's Christmas present.
All ready for his trip to Genting Highlands
the following day.
Two days later,
Dad sent this to Mom.
Magnum lucky number results |
Dad said,
see what came out on our birthdays?
(Dad and your birthday)

Both your birthdays ...
and the number was drawn
on your birthdays.
ZAP ZAP ZAP!!!!
Mom felt like a winner alright.
Truly, you were celebrating
with us on Christmas Eve.
Seriously???
2424
on Dad and your birthday, Daniel???
OMG.
Unbelievable!!!
How do you do it???
Truly, that new BMW X3
is clearly a present from you to Dad.
What are the chances of our numbers
appearing on 1st prize twice?
1122
2424
Gosh, no chance.
Not a chance.
Angel chance.
You must have whispered to Dad to check
the 2424 numbers that day.
Mum was surprised when Dad told her.
Dad has never done that before.
That was the first time Dad checked on his own.
Amazing.
That ZAP was awesome, Son!
Okay, gotta go get ready.
Going out in a bit.
Plenty more to tell.
Keep the ZAPS coming as always.
xoxo
