CALL 864 : CHURCH ZAP

Hello Son,

Sunday @ 11:56 am.

This morning,  at 7:30am,

we left for Holy Rosary.

We as in Dad,  Mom and

Grandma.

Aunty D and family will

meet us in church.

Today is Ryan's 1st Holy

Communion Mass

Celebration.

Holy Rosary Church.

That's the church that

you were serving as an

Altar Boy.

The church that you were

baptised in.

The church that you had

your Farewell Mass.

The church that Mom ...

in her quivering voice ...

delivered a song to you

for the very last time ...

during her eulogy.

On Jan 21,  2010.

Since that day,

Mom had found it difficult

to be in that church and had

gradually left Holy Rosary

for St Francis Xavier.

So ...

We arrived in Holy Rosary

about 7.45am.

We walked in, made our

way to the front, and sat

down on the pew on the

right side of the church,

3rd row from the front.

Aunty D and family arrived

Some 10 minutes later.

Ryan joined the

Communion kids and sat

right in front on the left pew.

A buzz came from Mom's

handphone.

Mom picked up her cell.

She had forgotten to put

her phone on flight mode.

Your mother saw that

ZAP instantly.

Mom showed her

handphone to Dad.

Excitedly.

"Look,  44."

On my WhatsApp.

Son is calling me."

He's near.

Her Son is,

 that's for sure.

Grandma's friends

came over to say hi.

It was still early.

 Rosary session

has not started.

The projection came on.

Ryan is at number 5.

Mom spotted her name

at number 2.

Grin.

Ryan was doing the

Responsorial Psalm.

At the mike.

Communion Song came on.

Mom leaned over to Dad

 and whispered,

"My favourite song ...

made famous by a Daniel ..."

Yup.

Trye story.

Your mother had googled

to check who wrote

the lyrics to this hymn.

It's such a good hymn.

The lyrics are great.

The tune is

somewhat - haunting.

That's how she discovered

this song was made famous

by someone called

  Daniel.

This song

came on today?

Zap Zap Zap!

Ryan taking Holy Communion.

During communion,

there was a small commotion

that happened

at the 2nd pew ...

See the 2 girls in dark outfit

and then a boy in a white shirt.

Zooming in.

The boy ... after taking

his 1st Holy Communion,

went back to his seat,

when suddenly,

he slowly slid down the bench

 with his head looking up.

Like he had fainted.

Or fell unconscious.

Or maybe slain

after receiving his

very first Body of Christ.

Mom saw the whole incident.

Omg.

(The photos were taken

after the boy was OK).

Mom whispered to Dad,

"Omg. Do you remember

a similar incident with Son?

Remember he vomitted ....

and I was on the floor

trying to clean the mess ...

it was a big puddle ...

and people at the back

started passing tissues

 to me ...

We had durians before that

and he vomited so much ...

we were seated

on the left side of church

towards the middle ...

you remember?"

Dad shook his head.

Your father doesn't

remember that incident.

What?

How could one forget

such an incident?

Dad said he must have

blocked that incident.

Mom looked over to that

boy in white.

Seriously....

She

had

to

 see

 that?

Yes,  Daniel.

Mom recalls.

Of course,

Mom remembers.

Zap Zap Zap!

Ryan is at extreme right.

The boy who was slain

just now is the tall boy

on the left of the Priest.

He's good after a few minutes.

That incidenr probably

 happened for your mother's

 benefit.

Dad and Mom gave Ryan

this pretty

1st Holy Communion candle

 and a children's

Bible Stories book.

Aunty D and family.

All of us.

After taking that above

all-together photo,

Mom suddenly noticed

a little feather

that was fluttering

on the ground

a few steps away.

Mom walked towards it.

Omg.

As your mother was

taking a few snapshots

of that tiny feather on the floor,

a few people were

watching her.

Mom said aloud,

so that all those who were

observing her could hear ...

"Here's an angel feather ..."

Can you see the angel feather?

Mom called Dad to come over.

"See my angel standing

beside me."

Big smile.

Angel feather.

Think about it.

Did that insignificant

feather have to flutter

to catch

 your mother's attention?

Mom thinks.

Mom suspects.

Mom believes.

Her Son must have been

blowing it

so his mother notices it.

Zap zap zap!

The Visitor Priest from Myanmar

read the Gospel today.

No no.

The Priest is not in the photo.

It so happened that the Priest

read the wrong passage.

The whole congregation knew

that the Priest was reading

the wrong passage because

the Gospel passage

was on the big screen.

After an awkward few minutes,

one of the Altar Boys quietly

walked over to that Priest ...

said something ...

and the Priest quickly

 corrected himself

by continuing with the

actual Gospel today.

Pause.

Reflect.

Altar Boy.

That Altar Boy

who helped the Priest

is the one on the right

of this photo talking

to Grandma.

Mom spoke to him a minute ago.

Your mother asked him

whether he went to that

Visitor Priest's aid on his own ...

 voluntarily ...

or the Resident Priest

had signalled him.

The Altar Boy replied :

"Voluntarily."

As in helping the priest-

voluntarily?

Grandma and Mom

praised him and said

that was nice of him,

good of him

to make that move etc.

At the back of your mother's mind,

she remembers

her Altar Boy Son ...

how Dad and Mom have

 encouraged you to be

an Altar Boy

so you can always be

of help to the Priests.

We see you in your

Altar Boy gown ...

is that what you call it?

standing in position at the altar

and executing your duties.

Today,  Mom had to witness

an Altar Boy helping the Priest?

Say no more.

Zap Zap Zap!

Daniel Phua.

Mom can feel you with us.

You are always

in our presence.

Mom is so happy

 to receive all your ZAPS

today and everyday.

Keep them coming

Stay close.

Stay near.

Watch over us.

We miss you so very much.

Over to you.

Kisses,

Mom

xoxo
