(continue from Call 639 : Sit Down)
Hello Son,
Saturday, August 13 : Day 3
(East Malaysia)
Our breakfast. Fried mee hoon. |
Latte |
Cheese & chicken baked rice. |
half boiled eggs |
western set |
This is the same cafe we came on the first day. |
We sat at the same cozy corner. |
(We were here on our first day). |
(Sunset at the river side) |
garlic fried prawns |
That evening,
we went to a chinese restaurant for seafood.
The moment we stepped into the restaurant,
found a table to sit,
it started to pour -- heavily.
Lol.
Good timing.
Thanks Son, for holding the clouds back
till we were in the restaurant.
We took our time to enjoy our dinner
since it was raining cats and dogs.
salted egg crabs |
sweet & sour ribs |
absolutely finger-lickin' good! |
Sunday, August 14 : Day 4
On Sunday, we went to church.
St Anthony's Catholic Church.
We have much to be thankful for.
Mass was at 7:30am.
We arrived just on time.
One of the priests was welcoming parishioners in at the side.
He could tell we were new to the church.
Haha.
After mass, we visited the grotto. |
Similar grotto as in Lourdes.
check out the instant noodles over here. |
We went to the grocers after mass.
It was still early, around 8:45 am.
Mom wanted to get a few things to prepare dinner for Justine
before we left for the airport in the evening.
After the grocer's, we walked over
to a coffee shop for breakfast.
Lor mee (bottom) and Laksa. |
Justine ordered another laksa - without taugeh. |
After breakfast, we walked around the block. |
Stopped by to take photos by the river front. |
Fluffy white clouds in the sky. |
It sure was a beautiful day. |
See the giant pineapple on the left? |
You would have seen your sister extending her hands out. |
In Justine's room ... |
About 3 pm, Mom prepared the ingredients
for her chicken dish.
Chicken, onions, carrots, mushrooms,
tomatoes and one green apple.
Mom told Justine it is easy to cook in the rice cooker.
Your sister watched.
In went everything.
We added honey, black sauce, oyster sauce, shoyu,
pepper, mushroom stock, some herbs & seasalt.
Agak-agak proportions.
Mom said, if the dish needs more flavouring
when it's done, just add in later.
the chicken drumstick and thigh are buried beneath. |
The rice cooker is on. |
about 25 minutes later. |
Dad and Mom packed our bags.
The taxi would be coming at 5 pm.
The cab did indeed arrive just before 5 pm.
Mom was impressed that she was
looking at a brand new car.
TOYOTA INNOVA.
How nice.
Mom said to Dad, "When we came, we had a new cab.
And now going back, we also have a new cab."
Wow. Nice.
With a small town, and simple small town people,
Mom was really not sure what she was expecting.
However, thank goodness ...
we dined in all new eateries during their stay.
Clean and new ...
or almost new.
Smile.
Plus, our long drive from airport to your sister's place,
and vice versa,
both times, mind you ...
both times, we were in new vehicles.
Mom couldn't ask for more.
Thanks Son.
The drive to the airport would take 1.15 hours.
Mom's eyes darted to the registration number
on the dashboard.
2414
Instant smile.
So loud and clear.

ZAP ZAP ZAP!!!
Thanks Son, it sure has been an incredible
4 day visit to your sister.
Dad and Mom were very glad
they made the trip.
Mom was looking out the window
throughout the drive.
Your mother made herself comfortable in the back seat
and allowed her body and mind to unwind.
The radio was on.
Half way through the journey,
a familiar tune came on the radio.
Mom nudged Dad,
and whispered,
"OMG. Say nothing ..."
Quickly, Mom pulled out her handphone
to check the time.
She stared.
5:38 pm.
Oh boy ...
It has to be perfect.
This trip.

(youtube video)
It's amazing how you can speak right to my heart
Without saying a word, you can light up the dark
Try as I may, I could never explain
What I hear when you don't say a thing
The smile on your face lets me know that you need me
There's a truth in your eyes saying you'll never leave me
The touch of your hand says you'll catch me
wherever I fall
You say it best, when you say nothing at all
All day long, I can hear people talking out loud
But when you hold me near, you drown out the crowd
Try as they may, they can never define
What's been said between your heart and mine
(repeat chorus) (in red)
6:14 pm. Justine sent this photo and said "So Perfect!" |
We arrived at the airport (6:18 pm). |
On board (7:48 pm) |
The flight took about 2 hours.
At KLIA, Dad called a cab.
The cab came a few minutes later.
In the car, Mom asked Dad,
"What's the car number?"
Unlike the cabs in East Malaysia,
our local cabs here apparently do not display
their registration number on the dashboard.
Or may be it was displayed somewhere,
but it was dark,
and Mom couldn't see any numbers before her.
So anyway, Mom asked Dad for the cab number.
Dad scrolled back on his handphone
to the call he made.
Dad showed Mom.
Mom took a snapshot in the dark.
Your father pointed at :
MCQ 3939
Mom looked.
Pause.
OMG, Mom breathed slowly.
You don't say ...
Seriously,
OMG ...
