Call 447 : TOILET SEAT

Hello Son,                                                (continue from Call 446)

Monday, February 11

Mom watched Baby Megan from a short distance, sipping her coffee beside a "stand-bar" that was outside the Candylicious store.

Sip sip sip ...

Her eyes darted towards the styrofoam tray the coffee came in.

She felt her breath caught in her throat.

Omg ...

Only a few minutes ago, she had heard SOMEWHERE OVER THE RAINBOW ... at her angel time on top of that ... and now ...

... now, her second sign has come ...

How absolutely wonderful ...

FREE ...

ZAP ZAP ZAP ...

See yourself posing with your PSP and in your FREE pink tee shirt on the left panel of the blog. Yes, FREE ... Whatever made Mom buy that tee shirt then, she will never remember. How a simple word on a tee shirt could become so significantly important to your mother, after You left us, is hard to conceive.

Nevertheless, no explanation is required.

The heart knows.

Mom packed the FREE tray into her suitcase, and brought it home. Sure, of course, she has seen many FREE words here and there before, all the time, but this one brought with it a certain -- emotion.

Oh, and it was right after she heard SOMEWHERE OVER THE RAINBOW too, for cryin' out loud ...

If that was not a clear zap, was is? :D

Tuesday, February 12

We will be going back home the following day.

Today, the rest of the family wanted to go to the zoo.

Uncle C, Aunty D, Aunty C, Justine, Grandma and Baby Megan.

Mom was not that keen on the zoo. So she and Dad decided to just go - ronda-ronda around town. We took a bus, observed its route before deciding to get down at Bugis. Dad said, we could pop by a friend's shop to say hi. He wasn't sure if the shop would be opened though, since it was still the 3rd day of CNY ...

Anyway ...

We passed a mall on the way ... went in for a bit ... to look see ...

At the ground floor, Dad pointed out, "Your DOT ..."

Smile ...

Deep in her heart, she knew it wasn't that accurate ... her DOT should be orange ... not black and brown ... still, it was heart-warming to see Dad um, collecting eviDANS and making the connection.

Out of the mall, we were walking through the street, when Mom stopped in her tracks.

Gosh ...

Seriously?

Mom pointed, exclaiming, "24 and DOTs ... What are the chances?"

24 being your birth date ...

That was probably a :

I'm right beside you, Ma ... :D

Everywhere we are, there You'll be ...

We felt your presence, Daniel ... You were/are with us, we know ... :D

Arriving at the friend's shop, we found the shutters half down.

Dad called out, hello hello ...

The friend came out, looking very surprised. She was not supposed to be there, she said, and had come in just to prepare the shop for the following day. We talked for a bit, and then Dad and Mom left.

Walking further down the street, we came to another mall.

Of course, we went inside. It's a mall ...

We happened to pass a nice cozy eatery that beckoned us to go in.

So we did.

Ooh, the noodles were super delicious.

After our late lunch, we browsed around the mall.

At one point, Dad pointed :

Smile ...

No, not at the 30% ...

Rather, at the Charles Daniel ... :D

Truly, everywhere we are, there You'll be ...

Isn't it weird that Mom named You, Daniel? Even before she had her first child, Mom had told Dad she would have a Justine and a Daniel. Either those names, or Justin and Danielle.

It was that easy. All had been pre-planned.

Had Mom named You say, Theophilus or ... Amaziah ... hah ... it would have been really difficult for You to zap her now, wouldn't You say? :D

All meant to be.

God's master plan.

We are just small insignificant players in his BIG plan.

So anyway, we left the mall a while later ... We didn't buy anything and we certainly did -- not -- find -- what we were looking for ... Oh, by the way, did Mom mention that we were actually out looking for a nice toilet seat?

Yup, toilet seat ...

Oh You know the kind ... like Grandma's ... the nice sandy-looking seashells one ... somebody in the family cracked Uncle S's toilet seat ... no one's owning up, by the way, so we think maybe it's Baby Megan ... tsk tsk tsk ... anyway, that's why we have to get a replacement that day before we go home the following day ...

Yeah yeah, that was the main reason why we had to go into town that day ... which worked out well because otherwise we would have to go to the zoo ... and Mom wasn't really in the mood to visit wild animals or learn about their sounds and habitats during her holiday time. :D

We were strolling around, heading towards the bus station, when we saw this red building.

Smile ...

Plenty of DOTS in Singapore, huh?

You're practically strolling beside us, Son ... :D

So anyway, to cut a really long winded story short, we could not find the fancy toilet seat. It didn't help that most of the shops that sold house items were closed for the festive period. Dad had called up Uncle S upon our return home, to inform him of his toilet seat, and how sorry we are, and that we would get a replacement back in KL. Uncle S was really nice about it ...

At the time of writing this entry (Sunday, March 3), it must be mentioned that Grandma has bought the replacement for Uncle S. Mom bought two for our home. It turns out that one of our parents own a shop selling bathroom and kitchen items. How convenient. She would not have known this except that, the boy's mother had asked, the week we came back from the CNY break, whether we could drop her son at her shop as she was too busy to pick him up that day. Mom was familiar with the row of shops that the parent was describing, and when Mom asked which shop was hers ...

The parent replied, "the one selling bathroom things ..."

Would You just look at that?

Wednesday, February 13

We went to the airport early the next morning.

We arrived in KLIA at noon.

Pause to reflect ...

Mom will always have mixed feelings when she's in KLIA. Our last trip together in September 2009.

Everything was as normal as normal could be.

We were waiting for the aero-trains.

As the train was approaching, Mom found herself walking straight to this door.

She stopped.

Gasp ...

Omg ...

Smile ...

Mom pointed and announced your name. What are the chances? Of all the names that could have been on the sample card, it has to be one that would zap your mother.

That zap was perfect, Son ...

At the end of the trip, You remind us again that You're always with us.

Truly, everywhere we are, there You'll be ... <3
